The second, which still doesn't have an English release. Hopefully sometime soon. (EDIT: In fact seems the English version just started its broadcast.)
In fact article might want to note that this is based on the entirely French made sequel, at the moment it implies it is based on the original. The article doesn't recognise a sequel even exists.

Well lame 3D cel-shading was a given for a western produced show. Every child's cartoon produced now is done like that. New episodes of classics like Thomas the Tank Engine are now 3D. MCOGs animation is actually very good compared to the standard these days.
I watched an episode, I actually didn't find it all that bad. Different certainly, but still well above the level of drivel that most children's programming has descended to. Magic I am actually not particularly surprised by its inclusion. It is set in China now after all, whose history has a healthy equal dosage of the mystical and scientific. Just look at any wuxia film.

All of this wouldn't be a problem... if the new series wasn't waaayyy much below the standard of the first one... Come on... more than 20 years later with all the exeprience, the technology... I'm an animator myself and I cleerly know for a fact that if they've choosed to go 3D in China it's only for the money, and nothing else.
In Europe this series winned nothing but rotten eggs and tomatoes, despite the censorship on the official website wich hunted down and removed almost all of the bad comments. But hell, it's the internet... They cant stop the public for saying they dont like it just with that kind of censorship.
So maybe it's "not that bad", but it's far from good... And they were planning to do a second season but they dropped the idea since the TV ratings were in fact very low.
But since they were also planning to make a sequel to Ulysse 31 if the News Golden Cities series were a succes, I thing we may have dodged a bullet here...
