Hi. Does anyone know a good anime? Something like Peach Girl or Elfen Lied?

I'm just gonna go ahead and state the obligatory obvious.
1. ANN Rules state: Use standard font and no colors. 2. Check the top 50 anime list for the "best" animes by rating. 3. Check the stickies. Namely, People's top 10 favorite animes and their reasons why and sticky for those looking for new anime. 4. Naming two titles doesn't help too much since they're so different (Peach Girl is Romance/Shoujo/Drama and Elfen Lied is Horror/Sci-Fi/Psychological) so knowing what you're looking for is pretty difficult. Might want to be more specific in what you're looking for so that we just don't list our favorites, which there's already a sticky for. |

Mmmmmm you should probaly watch Vampire Hunter D: Blood lust, Hellsing, there really nothing like peach Girl or Elfen Lied, but there good animes. Another one you should watch is...oh Perfect Blue, BloodL:the last vampire, but the polt for the movie sucks, Boogiepop Phantom, Paranoia Agent (really good. about a boy who kills people), Mermaid Forest, Gantz. That's preety much what i can think of. I'm sure someone out there well make a better list then i can. If you like to read, read death note.

Thanks alot ^^ I've already watched Hellsing, Blood, Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent, read Death Note. I'll try out the others you've named ^^ So far my all-time favorite is Peach Girl, so it's kind of hard trying to find some like it. But I'll manage.

Your favorite is Peach Girl? Then I will suggest Hana Yori Dango (aka Boys Over Flowers) as a great recommendation. It's a shoujo romance as well, and features they same idea of the lead character being bullied for being different. Although instead of this being because of her tan and bleached hair, it's due her being in a very well-to-do high school but she herself is not wealthy. It's quite a bit older than Peach Girl, (nearly 10 years), and to me it seems that Peach Girl picked up a few ideas from Hana Yori Dango to use. One of the characters is even quite reminiscne of Touji, although Touji has slightly better social skills (frighteningly enough), and there are three girls that sort of make up a Sae-like character. Another recommendation is Paradise Kiss. I don't know why, as I'm not all that fond of it, but it's very detailed with regard to fashion, much like Peach Girl. Actually, the attention to detail is amazing enough that I can look past disliking the lead characters (much like I disliked Momo and Touji in Peach Girl). Much like Peach Girl, it stays true to being a high schooler: cell phones, fretting over parents and signficant others, worrying about looks, stressing over exams, and having a dream, etc. I think it would be a nice compliment to someone who likes Peach Girl. I'd also suggest NANA, which I love, and is based on a manga that was created by the same person as Paradise Kisss. Once again, there is a strong attention to detail with regard to fashion, that's just very refreshing if you're used to shows with the characters always in their school uniforms or rotating between 2 casual (often ugly) outfits. NANA is thus far my favorite of the ones I've suggested. It has a little love, a little heartache, and two awesome main characters. One is a bit of a flake, the other is rock singer, and put together they compliment each other quite well. The opening theme is gripping, and the closing theme song is just plain beautiful. Anyway, you might want to go ahead and write specifically what you like about the anime you've seen as has been suggested. I'm sort of grasping at straws that you like the romance and perhaps fashions of Peach Girl. But even if I'm wrong on that part, I still think they might be good shows for you to check out if you like shows that are targeted, I think, at teen females (except Hana Yori Dango, it has a younger feel to it than the others). |

A weird/funny/extreme romance show I would recomend is Shuffle!. For some weird reason, it's like a hentai love story without the hentai, lol. I thought it was a pretty good show, though a little weird.
Da Capo might be another romance anime you might be interested in. It was pretty good. |

Wow.. Detailed suggestion! Arigatouu!! ^^ I've tried Paradise Kiss, didn't much like it. It was strange.. I'm currently reading Kill Me Kiss Me. I'm enjoying it. I've read the second book because the store didn't have the first, but I'm not much worried about the first book.
I really loved the Elfen Lied opening and ending. ^^ I'm trying to learn the opening 'Lilium' on the piano, but i can't find the right sheet music. So I'm kind of angry. -.- |

That's okay, I didn't like it either, but a lot of other people seem to. ^_- However, I still stand by the recommendation of NANA. Even though it's based on a manga by the same person who wrote Paradise Kiss, they're nothing alike (aside from the gorgeous attention to detail in fashion...which I like even though I'm completely unfashionable.) Because it follows two 20-year-olds named Nana living in Tokyo, it allows for a slightly more mature discussion of relationships than a lot of shoujo. By mature, I mean it doesn't have the "oh no, I heard from someone who heard from someone who was told by someone else that you might not like me as much as before" sort of thing going on. The decisions made by the female characters seem to be much more adult, but they still preserve the feel of two youngsters trying to learn how to be women. They're flawed, but not to the point of aggravating the viewer. One has more innocence and childishness, the other is a bit more hard edged and perhaps a little too unwilling to let go of her stubborness. But it's very nice that you can see growth even in just the first few episodes. Besides, the manner of storytelling is wonderful. It's very...personal? I don't know how to describe it. Nana Komatsu seems to be partially narrating the show, but at the same time, it almost feels more like an intimate discussion that we're hearing only one side of, either a conversation with another person, or perhaps a conversation with herself. Regardless, it's a rather compelling way to tell the story. |
