Well, I broke down and decided to catch up with the Bleach manga. I blew through it all in about 3 days. My God no wonder why I fell in love with this series. Each chapter is just making things get better and better. One of the big highlights for me (even though I saw it coming) was spoiler[Ikkaku's battle and his Bankai release. I can't wait to see this battle animated.] Actually I can't wait for all of it to be animated. All of my questions I still had when the filler started have either been expanded upon or answered. All of the new characters are quite colorful and just as unique as the others. It's just an all around great read and it's obvious that the filler borrowed quite a bit from it. The only thing I have to say is I'm hoping some other characters get the spotlight. I was glad to see Matsumoto (no not for the obvious reasons), and I'm hoping others who haven't gotten much time will get some in the near future (specifically one of my favorite captains Kyouraku and Vice Captain Yachiru). It's going to be a while, but the filler has been flexible enough so that the transition from manga to anime will for the most part be left unchanged. When Bleach does get back on track it'll be coming with full force spoiler[(and we all know it's a matter of time before Ishida gets back on the scene. A reborn Quincy versus the new Hollow Ichigo will be quite the battle).]
I still think it was a bad idea when they brought back Rukia and Renji (to a lesser extent). spoiler[The whole thing that made the Rukia come back in the manga cool was because after you read how she decided to stay in soul society you got the feeling of "man that sucks Rukia isn't coming back." Then came the "what’s this shinigami in school uniforms?" and then came the Rukia flying kick to the face and the "listen bitch so you're half shinigami half hollow hybrid *bitch-slap* get over it you little pussy!!!" The anime ruined that. And yes, IKKAKU KICKS SO MUCH ARRANCAR ASS!!! I hope he gets together with Keigp's sister.]

The plot hasn’t developed in any particularly interesting ways, to the point it’s hard to write anything positive about the show.― The Bakumatsu period, the final years of the Edo period, was an era of great social change and should be a fertile choice to set a historical drama. The mid-1800s brought an end to the Tokugawa Shogunate, a mode of government that had persisted over 250 years, while also...

It’s a narratively and thematically rich show that rewards close attention to character development and dialogue in-between moments of larger-than-life characters beating seven kinds of hell out of one another.― After the bitter disappointment that was The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer's abysmal anime, Satoshi Mizukami fans were understandably wary about studio White Fox's subsequent adaptation of ...
