Okay, I read the write-up for 6/18's episode of Eureka 7 on [as], but can someone who watched the episode give me a spoiler-level summary of what happened and comment on whether or not there was anything important/significant to the overall storyline? My power was out for several hours last night, so I my effort to DVR it didn't take.

spoiler[Gekko State go looking for a really big wave that's supposed to hit, but they miss it, and instead end up at the old military base where Holland and Talho first met. Holland talks with Talho about the past, while Renton and Eureka spend a day together. Eureka's starting to think that the Nirvash isn't listerning to her any more.
the only really important thing is Anemone is introduced.] it should be here tomorrow: www.animevillage.com Last edited by v1cious on Sun Jun 18, 2006 9:06 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Episode 10, I presume.
Spoilerific Summary: spoiler[The episode starts off with Holland having a nightmare about his hellish past. He sees his old "dog of the military" self with his former comrades, firing on crowds of people. His old self then fires upon him, and he wakes up, sweating and in panic. He stands up and looks at Talho (who is sleeping next to him), and she mumbles something about Renton in her dream. Holland is a bit upset by this, and he turns on the radio to seek some relief. He then hears of some great news. He dashes out of his room and shouts to his comrades that "it" (a large trapar wave) is finally here. Meanwhile, Renton is thinking to himself in his room while ironing Talho's clothes. He is still stuck on the horror stories that Eureka had previously told him, and wonders what he can to do help her (being the desperate loverboy he is). He then admits to himself that he knows nothing about what's actually going on, but reassures himself that it's okay, and that he can live on without knowing everything. Suddenly, in his distracted state of mind, he burns a hole through Talho's clothes. Uh-oh! So, what does Renton do? He hides the shirt he burned in a cash register, hoping Talho doesn't see it. Some of his comrades approach him (Moon Doggie and that girl who's always with him), and he tries to not look guilty (making him, in actuality, more guilty). Moon Doggie annouces that a BIG wave is coming. Meanwhile, the crew looks at some map and contemplates where the BIG trapar wave is going to strike. After saying some stuff I didn't catch, they decide on where it's going to be, and are excited to catch this wave. They start goofing around, and Talho walks out, and somehow she opens the cash register. And what does she find? Her burned clothes! Well, she takes mercy this time and forgives Renton. Renton, Eureka, and the annoying kids are in the room where the mechs are being stored, ready to take flight. After a bunch of not-so-important technical babble from just about every single member of the crew, they take off. Well, they've made it, and now they're in something of a anti-gravity (apparently they've gone REAL high), and everything starts floating in the air. Eureka then takes Renton to see something (I forget what) and they look out the window. And then, more awkward stuff going on between Renton and Eureka (not quite fanservice, but almost). Meanwhile, Dominic gives a report to Dewey, and Dewey, being the smart guy he is, deduces that Gekko Go had something to do with an attack that recently happened. Okay, so the crew has landed in the wrong place. They're in some old nostalgic place where there is an abandoned (and ruined) base, and they decide to crash and enjoy themselves anyway. Eureka and Renton have another friendly chat. The other members of the crew are still fooling around. So, Holland has a surge of nostalgia, as he wanders off on his own. A flashback scene is shown with Holland taking Talho away from where they formerly were. It seems this is the place where Holland and Talho left the military and started Gekko Go. Talho then joins Holland. Meanwhile, back near the LFOs, Eureka starts saying some things in a serious tone (particularly how she's starting to lose connection with the Nirvash). Renton finds it impossible to be serious, as he just has the urge to *do something* to Eureka. He forms his mouth into an O, creeps closer...and then... Woz comes and tells him to go for it. He tries, but then Woz says the same thing again, and in the end, he is unable to. Back where Holland and Talho are, Holland is pretty bitter. Talho admonishes him again not to run away, but Holland says he'd sure like to. He'd just like to run away to the ends of the universe, from his bitter past, from everything. He wants to forget everything about his nightmarish past, but he can't. He calls Talho annoying, and she reminds him of his horrible past as well. He then proceeds to hug her (apparently his "annoying" statement didn't mean too much), and tells her to let him forget all that's happened. Talho, who has Holland figured out to the very core, deduces that Holland came here on purpose. She tells him that he can't forget it, and he isn't allowed to forget it, and that he doesn't want to forget it either, and that's why he brought Renton into Gekko State. Now, Holland's pretty much like, "Damn, you got me." Renton then rambles on and on that he doesn't understand the feelings of Holland, Talho, or Eureka, but that it's okay. Back at the Dewey base, it's ANEMONE! A pink-haired girl with attitude. She's bleeding, and something is definitely not right with her. So, what significance is she going to play in the story? That's another story for another episode! ] Significance: spoiler[ I found three things of significance in this particular episode - 1) Character development. Now you have a better understanding of why Holland acts the way he does, and (somewhat) of why he is so bitter toward Renton. You also get to understand Talho better, and you find out she has a very mature side that is very different from her usual self when she is teasing Renton. Not just Holland/Talho either, you get a little more on Eureka and Renton as well. 2) Anemone. It's Anemone! She will be very important later on, and this episode introduces her. It also gives you a slight peek at her personality and what she is like. 3) Foreshadowing. This is basically the turning point in the series. The fun and games decline here, and the action will start from this point. They are showing more and more on the two conflicting sides, and the introduction of a new enemy hints the fact that a clash between the two sides is soon to occur. ] |

Yeah, that's another story for another episode. ![]() [EDIT] The following spoils past Episode 10. After the spoiler[rather unusual battle between Eureka and Anemone, much of this is hinted in significant detail. In an even later episode, when a significant discovery is made about Eureka, even more assumptions can be made about Anemone and her role.] |
