Okay sorry if this has been answered, I did a search and couldn't find anything. So once again I apolisge in advace. I saw some blood + and well Iam wondering if Saya is the same Saya in Blood the last vampire? Not only do they have the same name but if you gave Saya from Blood + long hair and pigtali braids they could be twins. Also here is a very dumb question, but I am asking it anyway. Was/is Saya some kind of halfbreed vampire or something? I have watched the movie numerous times, and I still haven't been able to make a desicion on this one. Part of me thinks she is since the movie is callled the last vampire, and she seems to be the one that kills them. But I am not 100% sure. Once again I apoligse for the stupidity of this question but it has always bugged me, and well now that I have been watching the Tv show, it is bugging me even more!

Ps. I loved the show by the way.

Thanks again everyone.

The Blood the Last Vampire movie is part of a completely different continuity, which includes the Blood 2002 manga, Blood the Last Vampire novel (or novels, I'm not sure if there are multiples or not), and a couple Blood PS2 games.

Blood+ is something of a loose retelling of that continuity, and has no relation to it at all. Or at least that's what I've been led to understand.

Thanks for clearing that up. It is kind of funny that they gave the characters the same name? I really appreciate you clearing this up. I rewatched the movie right after watching the first four eppy's off the show to see if it could answer some of the other questions I had. While it just made me more confused. I was wondering why they made her look a bit younger, though they still look overly alike, given one of them has short hair. Thanks again.

Now bout the spoiler[ Part in the third or fourth tv eppy where George was telling Sayia bout how he found her. He said somehting bout her sleeping and waking up? ANyways does that mean she has been with him for a very long time and was like in some kind of coma and just woke up one day. That part was a little confusing to me. I thought I'd ask it in here instead of starting a whole new thread. ]

Funny and confusing, but not uncommon. Many series that take place in alternate univerces do this; Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, and Hellsing are a few that I can think of.

Not to mention Cowboy Bebop lol. That one also confused the hell outta me when I realized they were on Earth.

Joel is right though, it is quite common (and quite disorienting in my mind) in series with movies. While it DOES appear to be a different rehash on the same story, I can't think of any way in which the two stories preclude each other from happening in the same world. The only discrepency I can think of is in the show Saya's blood is needed to kill them, in the movie they don't act like it is (though it is true that noone else kills one in the movie so that doesn't necessarily mean that that is not the case in the movie too).

I thought it was a continuation of the story from the movie? Because spoiler[Saya woke up 30 years after the vietnam war (whcih was when the movie was set, right?) And after she woke up, she forgot her past, etc.... and dindt they also mention that she goes dormant every once in a while?]

Thing is, spoiler[Saya never went to sleep. She continued her work on into the 2000s. What ultimately happened to her is outlined in the manga, where she ultimately succumbs to her vampiric nature and rebels, going rogue and "vanishing into the night" as it were. This was in 2002, and the TV series takes place in 2005. Unless there are two different Saya Otonashi, both with the exact same name who both went to 'Nam in the 1960s, all to befall different fates, it's unlikely that the two Blood franchises are connected.]

I think my original post was clear enough. Blood+ is the ONLY Blood incarnation not related to the others. The others are all interconnected, but Blood+ is completely separate.
