Yep, that sounds about right. Now if only we could see numbers on what the demographic breakdown of Shonen Jump's audience is. (Females might not be a majority of the readers, but I don't doubt they're a significant faction.)

Well, Shonen Jump is popular, and a lot of girls like it, but It's a surprise (and ironic to me) that it's #1 with females!

I was in a Shopper's Drug Mart today and saw the magazine on the rack along with only one other manga magazine, so I suspect distribution is part of it's popularity.

I don't know why this is a shock. They're been aware for a long time that a large number of their readers are female, which is the main reason I suspect they decided to put in Death Note. I mean really, take a look at all the doujinshi out there on Shonen Jump titles, and you'll see the majority of them are done by female circles. Especially if they're relationship doujin... and uh.. yaoi.
