Is there any news or can anyone even take an educated guess as to when the first volume of theHellsing Ultimate ova series will be available on DVD in the US, because I know the dvd comes out February 10, 2006 in japan.

Maybe within the year 2006 although who knows, I mean it has already been licensed so we don't have to wait for that to happen, so it just come down to getting the VA and making the rest of the dvd.
Till next time,

Whenever about 4-ish episodes of it are released in Japan is my guess. Geneon won't want to release one episode to a disc, and will want to wait for a pretty decent number to be produced before putting out a DVD over here.

Assuming they immediately put the DVD out as soon as the 4th-ish episode is released, I'd wager mid-summer-ish for a DVD locally.

I have a feeling it's going to be 2 OVA per DVD with a total of 8 OVA and 4 DVD. I mean there's only 7 volume worth of material if they plan to sticking close to what's available.

I don't know if Geneon is generous enough to put 200 min (or 4 Episode) of OVA onto a single disc, when they're still doing 7 disc release for 26 episode.

I believe the manga is supposed to be 10 volumes long (according to some intervie with the author somewhere) and the OVAs will cover the entire manga. I don't know how many OVAs there are expected to be.

On a side note, the first OVA isn't going to be out until Feb 10th? I've already seen a torrent for a fansub. Looks like someone on the inside has been leaking materials...

You must be referring to the "trailer" we discussed in this thread. Basically, it's just a preview of what the final cut of the first episode will look like, or so I hear. And so far, it looks like it will be: spoiler[ awesome!]

It may have been. It was called something Like "Hellsing OVA I: Digest for Fleaks" (yay for improper romanization Rolling Eyes ) and the filesize seemed too big for a trailer, but I could be wrong.

Of course, even then with the promise that all episodes in the series are going to clock in at 35 minutes or more (first episode by itself is 50 minutes), to have two episodes per disc wouldn't be as bad as it was with, say, FLCL, where each episode was a fairly standard 25-28 minutes.

And HitokiriSHadow, yes, Digest for Fleaks was pretty much just a preview of two scenes that will be placed into the final cut of the first episode. Not quite a trailer in the traditional sense, but all the same, not the final cut of the first episode.

I see. Thank you for clearing that up. I didn't bother downloading it since I'm just going to get the legit release and it's supposed to follow the manga pretty closely.

It was in Anime Insider. The only issue I bought, just for the interview. Hirano did say he was aiming for 10 volumes, and I was under the impression it was going to be two episodes (?) per volume.[/quote]
