I love this manga. I think I like it even better than the original Fushigi Yugi. Fushigi Yugi mentioned that Takiko and Rimudo don't end up together. Does anyone know if Yuu Watase is going to follow this sad ending?? I hope not. I hope they end up together like Miaka and Tamahome!!!!

I would be incredibly shocked if Watase didn't go with the ending that is already mentioned in the Fushigi Yuugi Seiryuu/Suzaku story. I'm actually looking forward to seeing her deal with an ending that isn't happy, though I wouldn't be surprised if she did find some way of making things work out in the end after all, somehow.

While some plot points have been altered slightly in order to make things flow properly, it's highly doubtful that Watase will change the ending mentioned in the Suzaku/Seiryuu storyline. If she were to do that she would invalidate key parts of her earlier work, which would weaken the Fushigi Yugi universe overall. She has matured as a storyteller over the past ten years, and I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing how she handles this.
Of course, IIRC what was mentioned in the S/S series was that Takiko was being consumed by Genbu and her father killed her rather than losing her to an animal god. I'll have to reread the S/S series in order to be sure, of course.

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. So, essentially Takiko will die at the end of Genbu Kaiden. However, I think Watase, being Watase, will come up with something to give it a happier ending.
