Wow, seems like Yes Asia is offering crazy amounts of different CD versions of j-pop music. Check it. http://us.yesasia.com/en/artIdxDept.aspx/code-j/section-music/aid-444/

So, what exactly is different from the Japanese version? Anyone ever buy a "Korean" and/or "Hong Kong" CD? Are these legit since they are so cheap? Just asking! Not that I got burned from spending $80 on bootlegs that I didn't know about at that time or anything. >:(

Um, they don't sing in Korean or Chinese like BoA, do they? :)

That's what a Japanese anime fan would say if s/he saw the price of Key the Metal Idol - Complete Collection, which would cost him/her ¥30,000 (US$260.46 as of today) in Japan, more than five times more expensive than the US version, and US and Japan have similar GDP per capita. Hong Kong and Korea have much lower GDP per capita; if the price of their respective licensed versions are the same as the original Japanese version, no one would buy them -- casual fans wouldn't be willing spend that much money, and hardcore fans would buy the original Japanese release.

Of course, having cheaper editions overseas could increase the temptation of "reversed importation," so companies have at least two strategies: 1) DVD's regional coding, 2) exclusive items, like the soundtrack CD, designer's notes, and a crystal key holder ( Wink ), while the much cheaper US version has none of these.

YesAsia has a good reputation in the past, so it should be okay.
