Has anyone heard of them? I have their 'Viva la Woman' CD, and it is seriously one of the best CDs I've ever heard. Artichoke is the best song, but I also like Apple.

Their name is great too. It's Italian for food madness lol. And most of the songs on Viva la Woman are named after food!

I always was fascinated by their video for Sugar Water (a split-screen time-reversal sort of story) Cool

I think one of them was Sean (or was it Julian) Lennon's girlfriend for a while - I remember one of the girls showed up in a music video by Lennon...

It was Sean Lennon. I saw it in some fan site. The member, however, slips my mind...

Where was the web site where you saw the Sugar Water video? I haven't seen any of their vidoes, and I would like to!

Though I don't know their music, I love their track in the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack, Birthday Cake. The wacky lyrics are brilliant Anime hyper

I wondered when someone would finally bring up Cibo Matto in the music forum (even though they're from New York and not Japan). I absolutely adore their music. Viva la Woman is definitely my favorite release (Stereo Type A lacks the charm Viva, although it does have my favorite Cibo Matto song, "Spoon," on it) and the music video for "Sugar Water," directed by the incredible Michel Gondry, is truly a work of art. I first heard them some years ago, when "Birthday Cake" was in the Kids in the Hall movie Brain Candy, of all things. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

Oh, and hanachan, you can see the "Sugar Water" music video on this DVD. It's phenomenal.

Fans of Cibo Matto should definitely check out Pizzicato Five, if you haven't heard them already. Their sound is a bit different, but they have the same quirkiness and energy in their music.
