Have you ever noticed especially with some theme song that they totally choose the wrong song! But then sometimes theres songs like Freckles from rouroni Kenshin that i hated for like ever then all of a sudden i found myself singing along. But really! What are some other animes with stupid themes!

"Neko Mini Mode" - OP for Tsukuyomi ~ Moon Phase.
I was like, wtf is this?! Then I caught up with the adorableness of Hazuki.
That reminds me......*goes play OP sesquence*

Shouldn't this be in the music forum?
I'd have to say that "Mirai Seiki Maruhi Club" by Kyoko from Boogiepop Phantom definitely did not fit into place with that series. Although I do like the song, probably better than the series it just doesn't fit. With a dark and mysterious series that Boogiepop Phantom and upbeat song did not fit in.

I actually like Sobakasu, but not "Freckles" because Sandy Fox sounds like an unnatural chipmunk, keyword being unnatural. The Japanese version doesn't bother me because I'm pretty use to hearing something like that in Japanese now .

And that's the great part, especially with the opening, Yuudachi. That song sounds more like something you'd hear in a romance drama or something. It's a good song, but very contradicting to the series. The same can be said for the OP and ED for 100 Stories.

As much as I love RahXephon, I really don't like the opening theme. It kinda has this weird off-beat techno thing going, that just doesn't work for me. I'm more of a rock fan, though...
I'm also not a fan of the "cutesy" type opening themes from shows like Chobits and Furuba - but I guess they do fit the mood.
If you want to see an opening theme/sequence done right, I suggest you check out BECK (Shameless Avator Whoring)

Well I like it, 1) because it's Maaya Sakamoto and 2) because Yoko Kanno wrote it. It would've been intersting if Kanno-san wrote the score for the series as well. No offense, to Hashimoto-san for her score, but if things had been different, I'm sure RahXephon could've been another Escaflowne type soundtrack, had Kanno-san possibly taken the job, and I love the Escaflowne soundtracks .

Holy shit yes! I love this show and I love that OP theme. And I love HAzuki too She looks a bit young, but she's a vmapire isnt she? so technically she isnt underage lol. GOd I want this show so badly. Im very very close to ordering R2 (yes R freaking 2) just for that mini figurine of Hazuki.

One anime that i thought had an unusual opening and ending for a darker kind of series was Paranoia Agent. When you are at the DVD menu screen it is all dark and creepy like, but then when you start it up it goes into that crazy song.(for some reason i had that song stuck in my head for a week)
Then there is the ending, which i guess fits the series because it is just really weird period.

thats another damned awesome show with a great intro. All hte characters laughing while a huge nuclear mushroom cloud explodes upwards. It certainly unique.

I'm right there with you - I'm a bigger fan of the OST than the show!
I just dind't like the RahXephon intro - that weird bubbly sounds beat thing just was off-putting to me. I like Sakamoto's voice, though, and still love the show.

I love this show but the opening theme is enjoyable at first but after repeated viewings ...it's disturbing....especially when you think of just how many people in the industrialized world would just be smileing at that beautiful mushroom cloud (and if you disagree consider movies such as Fight Club).
I've managed to distrub friends with just one line of the Chobbits theme........Yea,.......Yea. I can do that perfectly, and since I'm a guy...you get that idea.
I'd say my favorite opening theme/video combo over the last few years was Gasaraki (decent series, not outstanding). The music is techno with a Shintoesque backbeat. What was wonderful was that they did about nine openings which reflected what was going on in the show. In each case, the first thing you see is disturbing. Some examples include urban riots in Japan, American tanks driving off to conquer a middle eastern country, a ancient demon/mech swooping down on you, the White House under the gunsights of it's modern mech decendent.
All the best,
Nani?

The Fruits Basket opening seems out of place to me. I like it, but it's such a... sleepy song, for such a fun and cute series. I guess I was expecting something more upbeat.

Not an opening theme, but Elven Lied must have the most out of place ending theme EVER! Heads exlpoding, blood all over the walls, then the Japanese Hillary Duff. It makes no sense to me at all
