If you like rock music, X-Japan, hide with Spread Beaver, Pierrot, UVERworld, L'arc en Ciel, Dir en Grey and Malice Mizer are good...for my taste at least.

Ayumi Hamasaki, V6, and Mr. Children aren't that bad either, pop-rock wise.

If you're into rap-ish stuff... ORANGE RANGE and Home Made Kazoku are good groups.

Give us an idea of what types of music you're looking for. (Ex: Genres, or some of your favorite US/UK/whatevs musicians )Otherwise, this post is basically useless.

I agree with Haru to Ashura's suggestion.

I like Uverworld's debut song in Bleach (D-technolife and Chance) but after listening to their mini album, I didn't really find the other tracks very interesting. They lacked the type of energetic "spirit" that their "Bleach" songs had. =/

I wouldn't neccessarily group Orange Range in the rap category. More like pop, methinks. I recommend them too.

A pop favorite (and a favorite for many anime fans) is Do As Infinity, which in my opinion has a great repetroire (sp? heh) of songs. Check out their "Deep Forest" CD.

I also recommend the Pillows (great, catchy rock), Asian Kung Fo Generation, and SMAP.

visual kei j-rock - X Japan, dir en grey, malice mizer

softer non-visual kei j-rock - L'arc~en~ciel

alternative sounding j-rock - Asian Kung-fu generation

Hip-hop styled j-rock - ORANGE RANGE

rock groups with a pop feel- Do As Infinity, The Brilliant Green

i haven't decided on pop stuff...

Favorites at the moment:
Guy bands:
Home Made Kazoku
Asian Kung-fu generation
The Pillows
Orange Range has only two songs I like (Hana? and Asterisk)
Um...no female artists impress me at the moment since they all sound the same right now.
Utada Hikaru is pretty good but doesn't produce many new songs anymore
M-Flo has some good songs (the guy rappers suck though in some of her songs IMO)

If you like girl idol music with cutesy voices that all sound the same...then there's too many to even listen to and you can find them pretty much anywhere. There's a sticky with anime music radio where they play a bunch of songs 24/7 if you want to hear a bunch of different kinds of music...mainly from anime OSTs though: http://www.animeacademyradio.net/
I listen/leave it on when I'm not using much bandwith.

If you like a wide range of music then Gackt is excellent Very Happy He's done everything from classical piano music (Regret and Blue) to cheerful pop (Missing and U+K) to almost heavy metal (Nine Spiral) and done it well. I'd say probably about half of his songs are rock, and the other half are a mixture. But there's pretty much something for everyone in there somewhere...

Dir en grey are meant to be very good if you like much heavier rock, although I can't vouch for them because I haven't listened to much of their stuff. There's a pretty good indies band called Gazette that does similar music, as well as punk rock (Which I'm not sure if Diru does...)

Hope that helps! I can recommend specific songs if you say what sort of music you like Very Happy.
