ABC National Radio here in Oz has a weekly program called the Philosopher's Zone, where Alan Saunders interviews one or more people on various philospophical ideas. Thanks to a link at Siren Visual I discovered that the show had looked at the philosophy of anime.

You can listen to it here.

It's well worth a listen, particularly on their discussion of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and of Urotsukidoji (Legend of the Overfiend). Jane Goodall, the guest philosopher, makes the point that the west maintains a dualist worldview (ie, innocence v experience) whereas Japan blends opposites in a very creative way.

(They mention my favourite Blake quote: "The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom".)
