In the rugby episode Kaname is required to wear a sailor outfit and have a tea kettle, is there an inside joke or reference being made by this or is it just something random?

I know it's a cultural reference. I forgot what it was though.

As I understand it, it's basically a stereotype of old sports anime. The entire episode was really an extreme parody of those sorts of shows, where the fiery coach would inspire the ragtag team to persevere, yadda yadda yadda. I guess...part of that somehow included girls in pigtails holding teapots. Laughing
