i went to a burger king in the mall and they had those star wars toys...

and it said "Collect 17 all new Super-D Star Wars toys!"

super-d? as in super deformed? they did look super deformed, but i am curious whether that would was spawned from the anime community and is now used outside of it? (or possibly influenced from it)

or is super deformed a word outside of anime?

or am i just jumping to conclusions about "super-D?" due to over exposure to anime vocabulary?

http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/promo/news20050908.html <-- pictures of these toys

Looking at the context, I think it probably means "Super-Destiny." I'll withhold the other thoughts I have on the subject.

Although this thread is off topic, I must say Burger King has the WORST cheeseburgers... If you really want fast food, which is terrible for you, get something from In-n-Out or The Habit.
Of course they don't have any Star Wars collectors items, but at least their food is good.

The concept of "super deformed" characters is pretty much permanently regarded as a distinctly "anime-styled" trait, basically.

BK's burgers ARE good. Maybe you just had a stuffy nose when you ate them... or something. Plus, I'd rather get a burger at BK or McDonald's instead of some place with a name like In-n-Out.

Is there some sort of relation between "super deformed" and chibi??? Those star was characters look awfully chibi to me...

OT-- All of BK's burgers suck except the rodeo burger. 1$ = f#@$ing awesome.

In And Out Rules! Their fries are not that bad if you add salt.

Butt back to the topic, they do look Chibi-ish. But then again they look like "little people" with giant heads and I think in order to be classified as Chibi, they need to have a child looking head as well.

Are there any rules to Chibi?

Those toys look Meh. R2-D2 is the only one that looks normal. The watches look cheaper than their dollar menu.

They don't look like that anime style SD, but they do look creepy.

If you dn't know what an anime SD should look like; watch shows like: Dragon Half, Mahoujin Guru Guru, GetBackers (has occasional SD's), lots of 90's anime. I think 70% of the animation in Dragon Half is SD. Fullmetal Alchemist has a few SD scenes though I see a dying tendency of SD's in post 2000 anime. Seems like it's gotten out of style.

Sad cuse it's funny if it's used right.

IN AND OUT IS THE BEST!

i only like the onion rings...

well anyways, i was wondering if this was a sing of the anime culture sinking in subtly into non-anime american pop culture?
