While looking at the Josei defition it ocurred to me that it needed to be updated since non-yaoi Josei is getting to be quite popular now.

For example Paradise Kiss, which is even licensed in North America.

But is Honey & Clover Josei, or ... ?

You mean the lexicon definition? In any case, I'm starting to have doubts regarding demographic indicators. What do they teel you really? Nowadays all the genres are blending in every demographic. It used to be possible to regard shoujo and shounen as genres since they had distinctive styles, but now you have shounen-like stories aimed at girls and shoujo-like stories aimed at boys. Same thing with the older seinen and joseri (which were always closer in themes anyway except for the porn stuff).

At this point it seems to me that demographic information is utterly useless. It doesn't tell you anything about what the title is like. Worse yet, by pigeonholing titles (this is shoujo so if you are a boy you should not watch it) this might actually be harmful information.

Speaking of josei, I was really surprised (even a little bit upset) to realize that none of works from Fumi SAIMON was included in the Encyc -- even herself is not. She was THE queen of josei in early 90s. I've added her most popular work, Tokyo Love Story, only to find it was mentioned by a news article three years ago. No ANNer has ever submitted it? This is sad.

I'll add more of her works one by one. I still remember how popular TLS was when I was in an all-boys high school, and the OP of its live-action adapation (which had literally CREATED the fandom of J-drama in Taiwan) could still be heard everywhere today.

The latter has been there for years, but it was until yesterday did I really see a manga title about a female softball team, with all those typical sports and friendship "shounen" factors and negligible fan service and roles of "other sex" -- something like Captain Tsubasa for girls.

EDIT: I should have remembered volleyball, a realm rarely with male leads. Attack No. 1 and Attacker You! (why so many "attacks?") were just prime examples of such titles. And guess what? A new live-action adaptation of 35-years-old Attack No. 1, featuring cute Aya Ueto as heroine Kozue Ayuhara. Time to add manga and live-action TV in addition to the 2-years (!) anime series....
