for some reason nerds just some to be having a field day with this. is there something i'm missing here? cause i'm just not seeing what all the hype is about.

How much have you seen?

I like it for the sheer breadth and depth of the nerds it showcases.

Also, I think that for some nerds, it shows a different way of life, which actually could be achievable, they also see themselves in the main character, and take heart in that fact.

Also, since it's a show about how society reacts towards otaku, it makes the main character very sympathetic.
