Was I dreaming or did the band Daft Punk have a mini-movie thing going on in their video clips for the album Discovery? I swear I saw something on MTV about 3 years ago where it was like a Daft Punk marathon and the video clips where little clippets of blue anime men singing and dancing but being chased or something. Can anyone tell me if I have the whole thing wrong, or maybe that a disco French band has links with an anime series?

I saw it before. a French group want to invite the director of Galaxy Express 999(NOBUTAKA NISHIZAWA) to help them to produce MTV and he recept the invitation. However he don't want to just make a simple one so he make an integrated anime. What you saw is just that one. It is a science fiction . A music group popular among creature in universe. A human on the earth kidnapped them and change their skin color to force them to work for him. At last they were saved by universe policeman. That's all I know about it.

You must be refering to Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. It's Daft Punk's Discovery album animated.
I'm a big fan of them so I've been trying to see it for some time now. |

I don't see how this is anime-related.
ANN really needs an Off-Topic forum. |

Not only is it done in anime style it is an anime made by the Japanese. So this very much relates to anime, it's even in the encyclopedia. |

Don't forget about Leiji Matsumoto! Saaa I love his work
You should look info up before you just assume something, as Interstella is VERY anime related ^_~ I have shown the Interstella at my anime club and members seem to love it. The music is great and matches quite well with the animation style. |

While the Interstella 5555 videos are good, I prefer their live-action videos. Robot Rock is cool, Technologic is scary, and Around the World is probably my favorite. I'm sure there are more, but those are the only ones I've seen.

I liked their live action videos also until I saw "Interstella 5555" just today and I thought it was AMAZING! No lines of dialogue (excep the vocals) and the story was crystal clear as the visuals were accompanied by Daft Punk's music which perfectly matched! The retro style of the animation was a great way to go and I was delighted! One of my favorite anime films (with a running time at 65 minutes). Great music and a great story. This is one of those underrated films that people on this board are looking for . Plus, it's short which will help with those that don't want to spend too much time.

its a really nice piece of animation, yes. problem is, if that kind of heavy repetition in music is painful then be prepared to be annoyed by the film.
i had waited for several years to see it too, better with the sound down though... and had to watch it in several chunks. |
