This is really great news, and hopefully, should get some attention to our fan campaign to get Sakura Wars localized. We just got backed by Operation Rainfall, so hopefully the re-release of the film will help entice more anime fans to support us!

Very surprising news. Hopefully Funimation also rescues the Sakura Wars OVAs from ADV & gives them the BluRay treatment as well, since they were also recently put on BluRay in Japan.

The show was re-released by Sentai a while back in a pretty decent little set. I doubt they'd do a BR... but I can always dream.

Not too sure why they got this since I don't believe their releases of Sumire & Ecole De Paris did well for them plus there are still some OVAs that never got licensed here, including one that's linked to the video game that DID get a US release.

Always nice to see more old titles get the Blu-Ray treatment. Looking forward to picking it up.

Kinda confused as to why they would license it. Especially when someone from Geneon mentioned on ANNcast that the DVD version bombed when it was released here(& still sits in bargain bins to this day).

Plus the only game released here was one that has none of the characters from this movie in it.

Actually that game does have one of the characters from this movie in it.

I can only assume that the license was cheap or maybe bundled with something else as I doubt there is much demand for this. But I will always be happy to see more anime on BD.

Definitely good news, but now I wonder if Sentai or Funimation could get the rest of the Sakura Wars series.

Sentai already has Sakura Wars TV shows.

Why would you license something so bad.

It was probably cheap. It's already dubbed and can be out on bluray. It may have also been part of a bundle.

They probably wanted to license something else from the same company, and they made them bundle this in as well.
