I recently registered with AnnNews for the news feed. At first it worked great. Something decided to break after that however, and in the process of trying to fix it, I fear I might have been blocked Sad

The site is animesa.net

My username for the feed is ephemeralarcs

The problem I'm having besides being blocked is most peculiar. Whenever I try to open a file() with a url on my server it times out! Two days ago however it was working perfectly. Now even when I go to the phpbb admin panel for my website it times out trying to see if my version of phpbb is up to date Sad

Anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped on this one. The server works fine, and a ping to animenewsnetwork.com goes through just fine.

I'm stumped... and probably need unblocked. Any volunteers? Razz

Have you checked with your webhost? Maybe they changed their firewall settings or something like that.

I made my own webserver using an old computer and OpenBSD. I'm hosting it off of my friends adsl connection.

Even so, I checked just to make sure and the php file() function uses port 80 when you use a url, which is the same port that is forwarded for the webserver. The fact that you can even see the site animesa.net is proof enough that the port forwarding is working for port 80... so I'm fairly sure it's nothing to do with the firewall.

Thank you for the help though Smile I could still use some help if anyone has perhaps run into this error before?

The reason I fear I might've been blocked is when I've been testing changes on my developer machine (my laptop) Every so often I get a newsfeed, but the rest of the time I get a blank page. Lately all I've been getting is a blank page. (If you type in the url it gives you with your username and password it is a webpage). The originating site for this query wouldn't be animesa.net... it would be whatever the IP address is of the connection I'm using at the time. Which goes against the regulations for the newsfeed, because you're only supposed to ask for the newsfeed from the registered web address. But in trying to set it up, I've had to use my developer machine for testing, as well as a testing page on animesa.net so as not to fubar up the homepage while I was trying to fix the problem (I don't want any casual visitor to see the warning message with my username and password in it now do I?). At first it didn't care what I did, but I think I might've "striked out"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I figured out a way for it to work, for some reason curl and the php function file(), fsockopen(), and fopen aren't resolving dns entries. So I put in the ip address and it works.

That'll do until I figure out why its decided not to work normally I guess >_>
