I am a huge Pokémon fan, but I found this movie to be one of the weakest. Honestly, I felt that the movie's main problem was that it was incredibly underdeveloped.

Why does Keldeo have to battle Kyurem to become a "Sword of Justice"? (bleh. Can they really not say "Sacred"?)
Why did Kyurem go on a massive rampage just to find Keldeo?
Did Ash, Cilan and Iris really just steal a blimp?
How does Iris know how to fly a blimp?

I honestly also felt that for once, Ash, Cilan and Iris being there actually hurt the movie. Ash pushing for Keldeo to fight Kyurem again to save the Swords of Justice, in my opinion, went completely against the whole film. Keldeo got into this mess because he recklessly rushed in, so Ash is telling him it's okay to do that as long as you have a pretty reason? Honestly, the human characters also did nothing - it would have been a much better movie if it was focused entirely on Keldeo, Cobalion, Terrakion and Virizion - at least then there might have been some more interactions between them that made Keldeo's later revelations actually make sense (I felt Keldeo's development really came out of nowhere).

This movie had a lot of potential, but I feel that it was wasted. I felt it was too short and could have easily have done with another 20 minutes to help build up the Swords of Justice more.

I'm something of a pokemon fan, but I hardly pay attention to the anime and only watch some movies if I'm seriously bored and have time on that day (I just stick with the special manga and games). When I hear from other fans that this was supposedly one of the 'better' movies I checked it out. When I was done, I was wondering what they were smoking.

One of their arguments was that it focuses more on the pokemon rather than the humans. Well ok, but it doesn't really help if the pokemon we're focused on kind of gets on my nerves. Thanks to that its hard for me to want to root for him and with those gosh darned 'HuManZ' there it kind of just makes me wish we DID get one of those typical adventures that the other films had, at least *most* of them didn't annoy me this badly. But if anything if Keldo wasn't so damn annoying it also wouldn't have been as satisfying when spoiler[Kyurem beats him] To me that's the best part of the film.

I've enjoyed a lot of the "Pokemon" movies in the past and this one doesn't seem as bad to me as others have been. I have to give kudos to the "Pokemon" people for trying to do something different than usual. I've enjoyed the great plots that many of those movies have delivered. That's been the main strength of those movies, great plots.
It's true that a little more work should have been done here but I don't think that this movie was as bad as many here have been saying.

These movies have got to be the worst ones of any Generation of the anime franchise. The plots were half-assed for the first two (which I can understand, because they made two movies as opposed to the traditional one), then they do the same for this one. I dunno about this upcoming one involving Genesect, but the trailers look great as they always do... I shouldn't be holding out hope, but if I don't then I'm just letting Mewtwo go to the wayside...

Ugh.

I stopped watching the pokemon movies long ago, and it appears I made a wise choice. I still follow the games, but the last gen didn't really do it for me so I'm still debating whether or not to get gen 6.

I have to agree that Keldeo is not the best looking legend to base a movie on, especially when the central focus is on them. He looks... odd. At least it wasn't centered around the Pallet Swap Trio from the same generation.

Seikenshi would translate better as Holy Swordsman than "Sacred Swordsman" just to be technical, given Keldeo's name refers to being a God. Sacred actually feels a bit dumbed down to avoid saying the word "Holy"

...I like Keldeo and I think he's really cute. Embarassed

I had mixed feelings about this movie. I thought the story was a good one for Keldeo but his personality did get on my nerves a bit. I didn't think this movie was any better or any worse than other Pokemon movies I've seen.

Not that it matters, unless you actually care for the dubbed short. Confused That "Dance, dance, dance!" song was a terrible way to pay homage to "Mitemite Kotchichi" if that was what they were going for. Laughing

I do prefer the Mite Mite Kochichi version, but TPCI has it, and has streamed it in English on their Pokémon TV site. It's now gone (as far as I know) and there's no other way to see it through legal options. It's frustrating that they have it and didn't include it with the DVD. Unless VIZ just totally didn't know about it and didn't bother inquiring about anything else to put on the DVD. If not the series, I do buy every Pokémon movie. So yeah, it's annoying.

Anyway, kinda interesting that IE10 is auto-correcting Pokémon to include the accent...

I actually enjoyed this film because Ash and his dorky friends weren't the main characters!

And the battle animation was the best yet, IMO.

I haven't watched a Pokemon movie in ages, but please make something clear to me. Am I misunderstanding the review or this Keldeo starts as a human being and is then for some strange reason transformed into a MLP-Pokemon? How does this even happen?

I stopped watching Pokemon movies but this one I had to come back for 2 reasons.

1) No Team Rocket in the central plot, just non-speaking cameos.
2) Vic Mignogna!!! Love the guy's voice work. And him being in Pokemon is a must-see opportunity for me!

.......I seriously disagree with this review so so so much. I can understand why, but to throw this much bile on something like this. Of anyone's interested, feel free to read my review: http://joyousmenma93.livejournal.com/96887.html

I personally found this to be one of the better movies. Heck, for once, it's not about saving the world from some overused generic villain or Ash being some chosen one or Poke-Messiah who learns something about himself that gets retconned in the TV show (as Linkara put it). Plus, while yes I do agree that Keldeo is a mountain of walking shounen anime cliches, you have to admit that he's not overly loud or stubborn like some characters (NARUTO). Plus he actually learns from his mistakes and strives to fix them, tells the truth, and even though he loses, he comes out a better Pokemon because of it. These are lessons that need to be taught to kids, and this movie nailed those morals nicely!

That should come as no susprise at all. its gamefreak and nintendo's stupid claim too keep it " child friendly " to appease parental advoates and to ensure that its main cash cow the video games doesnt suffer in sales of course their gonna town down anything related to the words holy and god. Its the reason why they called Dialga , Palkia , and Arceus deities instead of gods, especially Arceus.

as for this movie being the worst, its far from it. that belongs to the 2nd movie which was extremely disappointing. the 4th was close to that category , though its ending saved it of sorts.

the best movies are the 5th the 8th though both their endings definitely leave something to be desired , the cutest and adorable is the 9th movie with Haruka / May becoming Manaphy's mom , and the darkest movie is of course the 1st and 13th cause it really showed the dark side of humanity.

this movie is definitely not the worst, but its the most gimmickry of all the movies.

its probably the biggest case of gimmickry since ADV got the Japanese VA for Lin Mimay to voice the english dub Uncut version for Macross. How did they got Mignona to voice Keldeo? that is the real 64 million dollar question. and they had to have given him a crapload of money to do it.

this had to have violated some kind of union rules of sorts.

though i dont know crap about any of the union - non union rules so what do i know.
