It's for the best considering how having Korean food inserted into Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo caused it to be a sales flop due to the otaku fanbase being over nationalistic.

Yes. Japan is one of the most racist countries on the planet.

Actually, East Asia in general is one of the most racist continents on the planet.

Sounds like the outsourced Korean animators added it as it wasn't in the storyboards.

This is different from Sakurasou where they didn't just place a random ad in there, the dialog used by the Japanese seiyuu was also changed from the light novel text. Still much ado about nothing but it can cost you thousands of Blu-ray sales so it isn't worth doing even as a thank-you to your Korean outsourced animators.

To be honest I love seeing japanese adverts in my anime. For example when I was watching the blue exorcist sub for some reason the site I was using had recorded versions with adverts inbetween and it was a surprise bonus.

They're really showing their "nationalism" by sitting on their parent's basements, huh?

The author made the right comments here to prevent hurting its sales. The otaku were quite upset over this but it seems like a lot of the anger has subsided since he made this statement.

...some people were apparently annoyed, and they were making a big fuss about it (as some people on 2ch are wont to do about pretty much everything). But it's not like the entirety of "the otaku" were "quite upset" about this. It's a Japanese poster of a Korean band that was used as a minor, unimportant background prop in one scene where said prop had zero plot significance; no attention was drawn to it, nor was any comment made about it. Even calling it "product placement" is pushing it (and wasn't actually in the original tweet). There's no evidence that it was anything more than some sub-contractor's need to fill a space with a random image, and choosing this one. It still sort of amazes me that people even noticed such an unimportant prop (but 2ch is also known for this sort of super-detailed analysis of anime scenes).

I don't get what's the big deal with this. I mean, its just a harmless Kpop self-insert. The Koreans do help animate a good majority of Anime, so I don't see why they shouldn't put it there.

Its just a harmless teaser and nothing to make a big deal out of. People these days..

No big deal? Look at the reviews on amazon.co.jp:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00CBSF7MU

23/34 reviews so far are 1/5 stars because of this!

最近の韓国推しにはうんざりしているというのにアニメにまで韓国ネタを散りばめるのはやめていただきたいです

韓国 is Korea.

This is the same thing that happened to Sakurasou:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B009HGNR62

190/270 reviews are 1/5 stars. Selling 2000/volume. Sucks! :'(

Bad reviews because of this silliness and it will affect sales believe it or not.

How popular was the show anyway?

If it was going to flop anyway, this is irrelevant and simply another example of nationalists ranting about a big dump of nothing.

Do these things really impact sales by thousands? Over here you got swarms of people vowing to boycott Fez and Shadow Complex. Fez because they think the creator is a jerk and Shadow Complex because they don't agree with Orson Scott Card's views on homosexuals. Both those games were pretty big hits regardless. Granted, anime is a smaller pool than games.

Its projected to sell pretty well for a show of its type, probably about 6-8k range before this scandal. Its dropped a little bit after this but its jumped back up in the rankings after the authors statement.
