god this is so weird, for America to get a Bluray of an anime movie before Japan. but i bet it could be rendered better and have a lot more special features ._.

The American Blu-Ray was just an upscale of the SD version.

Dunno if it was an "upscale" per se. Wasn't the movie produced in HD to begin with? It was 2010 so it probably had to be.

This will be an upscale so to speak as well.
They stated in the past that they actually weren't going to release this movie on BD as it's re-used TV footage with minimal new footage, with only that being HD.
It was the same with the Sentai BD.
The final fight at the end with new footage was actually HD and looked pretty damn good. The rest however is re-used SD TV footage.
I imagine they've caved in as they can use this to gain some extra sales what with the new movie coming out in Japan.
