So, does this mean that Bandai Visual is going to add English subtitles to most of their new releases? Yamato 2199 and Akito the Exiled have subtitles. Karneval is also supposed to include English subtitles.

Quite expensive box sets, but they have more episodes than normal, right?

Four episodes + OVA. Per episode cost is 3360 yen which is cheaper than a typical 2-episode release. Of course, that is based on MSRP....

Wonder if this what we're going to have to put up with now with everything Bandai Visual Japan has. Pretty sure they've already said that the Gundam Seed Destiny Remastered blu-rays will have english subs too.
It does make me wonder if someone like Funimation or Sentai can still license DVD versions of the stuff Bandai Visual has.

I just went to amazon.co.jp, and it lists three box sets. The first set is priced at 13,440 yen and has two discs and 94 minutes (4 episodes). I suppose each box set will have 4 episodes.

For the time being I suspect the answer to be "no" for anything that has a chance of being significantly successful in the North American market.
Ultimately the pricing differential between domestic Japan and domestic US & Canada releases will seek a balance. Upping the episode count may be the first step in that direction.
This should be interesting.

Hell yes! Now I don't have to add them manually.
