Super Saiyan God is a lazy recolor of Goku, just a tweaking of Kaioken.
I bet Bandai realized they had a bunch of unsold Kai merchandise and Toei decided that they'd help them move it by making the new Super Saiyan form for the movie be something Bandai could just recolor the figures slightly to make.
Pretty nice-looking animation, though, for DBZ.

Yeah, it's kind of underwhelming. Given how busy the super saiyan 4 design is, maybe they wanted to make a simpler look for super saiyan god.

My guess is Super Saiyan God is some kind of ascended "base form", kind of like Gohan with the Grand Kai power up.

They got so lazy with the plot. It suffers from Dragon Ball GT syndrome: every character who isn't Goku is completely useless.

Yeah, like every Dragon Ball Z movie Though, from what I've been reading/hearing on the ending of the film, it's very unlike a typical Dragon Ball Z film.

Had to stop watching, it's showing too much but it does look quality.
Plus I've only ever watched Kai and about to start the Original DBZ so have no idea what happens after the cell saga
Think I'm gonna avoid anything further until I've watched more DBZ

This looks really bad for something that's supposed to be brand new. I don't know if it's on purpose, but it literally looks like they just took one of the old movies, and made it HD.

Personally think it looks brilliant, it will deliberately have been styled to fit in with the old drawings but it looks a lot cleaner and crisper.

I'm not sure what you'd want if not that? Dragonball Z has a it's own style and it's not something that anyone wants to mess with. The best looking DBZ thing I can remember seeing is the most recent OVA with Tarble, but this is still a higher quality than most DBZ things. So I'm happy with it.
