So I was going through an assorted comic long box and came across issues 7,8, and 9 of the translated manga Grey published in 1988 by Viz. I must have got them in a comic lot at some point.
Flipping through it, it looks kind of interesting as far as 80s sci-fi manga goes. Any one remember it? Back issues are a tad scarce, but not very expensive, and it appears to have only ran 9 issues total. So it wouldn't be difficult to get them all.

Yeah, I've read it. It was collected into two manga volumes, those are what I have. As far as I can see, they're not hard to get either. There's a version with and without dust jackets from what I can tell.
I found the action a bit difficult to follow at times, but overall good. I didn't understand the pointy noses that were only pointy from the side, nothing indicated they would be, lol. The story started on one set of characters, then changed halfway through, which was a bit jarring. A second read-through made it much easier to understand. It's definitely a product of its time, just be expecting an 80s action series with some scifi elements, and you should be good.

I read that series when it first came out way back in the late 80s. It was actually one of the first pieces of manga that I read. The manga also produced an OVA, Grey: Digital Target around the same timeframe.

I started collecting manga in late 1997. I picked Grey up out of the back issue bins some time after that.
Viz issued it in 9 monthly installments. It was in squareback format roughly 70 pages each. Price was $2.95 US or $4 Canadian.(??) They are flopped as were all manga at that time.
I still have them. I just checked and the individual comics are not dated but the introduction in the first issue (Harlan Ellison) is dated October 1988 and the second issue has an advertisment for a 1989 Nausicca calander.
I haven't read it in maybe 10 or 12 years, but I remember this as a rather bleak series with a world no one can win in.
The first issue offers "Grey: Digital Target" in either VHS or Beta. It is listed as 80 minutes and cost $119.95
