INTEREST: Manga-Creation Software ComiPo! Demonstrated

this is the lazy mans manga creator. but I can now see a flood of crappy manga hitting online soon, I think drawing should be left to the artists that can draw, not for people to point and click. It kinda cheapens the feel of mange, because now you do not need talent,

I honestly see this as the perfect storyboard tool for artists or fledgling mangaka.

Seriously. If anyone hopes to get away with creating works of art with this, GTFO.

So, what are these talents? let me ask you first, what is your foremost reason for reading manga? I would be willing to bet in 99.9% of cases, the main reason a person reads the manga is

Im gonna have to differ on that one. You wont need the same set of talents that people who have created manga in the past have needed, but to make a good manga that people will want to read you will still have to have talent.

So, what are these talents? let me ask you first, what is your foremost reason for reading manga? I would be willing to bet in 99.9% of cases, the main reason a person reads the manga is not to look at the images on the page, right? So whether the manga is created digitally with this software or with pen and ink, a person still needs to possess a degree of talent in all aspects of writing in order to make a successful manga.

The second necessary talent is where this will differ from traditional manga creation. When a manga is drawn wit pen and ink, the artist is at liberty to draw whatever and however they want with no limitations.

In the case of this software on the other hard, the 'artist' only have a variety of pre-scripted instances with which to tell the story. I don't know if you've ever tried to tell a story using only pre-created stuff but ill tell you, its not as easy as it looks to create something that looks coherent. As such, you can't make a claim of 'no talent', just because the talent set requires will differ.

And heck, if it makes you feel better just think about this as a different medium all together, since it is quite obviously significantly different from traditional manga.

Agree with your intended uses, but i think you will be surprised just what some people are capable of creating with a tool like this.

there was a game for PC a couple of years back called "the movies", which was basically a movie studio running RTS. The real point of interest though, as far as i was concerned at any rate, was the custom movie scripter the game had.

The scripter allowed you to use pre-set scenes with a drop and drag for additional options like set dressing, props ect, which could then be shot into a full length movie, cut and edited, then uploaded online.

Even though it was rare, some people produced some amazing works using this game, once they understood how to work and manipulate all the individual aspects of it properly (and had that talent i spoke of above). I think we can probably expect to see at last a few diamonds amidst all the junk that will inevitably be created.
