I think you misspelled Discotek in the thread title, dudes. Neutral

I am a HUGE fan of the original series. I own this one too, but it's nowhere near as good as the first. Still, it's nice to see other people get the opportunity to have this.

I'm going to buy this in hopes of a re-release of the original one and a BD release for both Gunbuster and Diebuster. Very Happy

That's funny, this was brought up in another thread talking about if FUNi was ever going to rescue this or the original. Weren't BDs of Diebuster supposed to be coming out soon? I guess this will only be the DVDs then, reverse importing and all... Either way, Gunbuster and its recent BD need licensing as well, and there's no better company for it than this one. One plus is that Diebuster is now approaching a decade in age, and this isn't AoA or Bandai Visual, so there's hope that this will finally be a cheap set, like $19.99 cheap.

Goodbye trying to hustle up those individual copies selling for $20 a pop, and then you can't get vol. 1. Once again Discotek knows what fans want and knows how to deliver.

Now we just need Dangaioh and Devilman rescued and I'll be a happy camper.

The BDs for Diebuster came out already, last June.

The article should be updated to give a definitive media format for this release, as it's extremely ambiguous as to whether it's DVD or BD (judging by the $29.95 quote floated around by DT on the linked facebook announcement, one would reasonably surmise DVD).

That said, it's a nice gesture, but you'd have to be a die hard to get this knowing that a BD release is likely coming down the pipes. It's a beautifully animated series, and having to stop gap with DVD resolution knowing there's something far better out there already is just masochistic.

This is good news. I've been thinking about piecing together a set of the DVD's for a while, but now it won't be necessary. This also will be a good excuse to dust off my copy of the original Gunbuster and rewatch it.

I doubt it. In my case, I actually bought all three volumes for about half the original retail price a couple of years ago.

Which is why I'm probably not going to purchase this new release. Nevertheless, it's always good to know the series is going to be back in print. I'm more of a Gunbuster fan myself, but I enjoyed Diebuster enough in its own right.

Discotek says they're still quite a while away from releasing BDs regularly. They've only done one BD AFAIK--Little Nemo--and that's because it's more a guaranteed seller.

Sweetness! I love, you Discotek!

Can you watch Diebuster without having seen Gunbuster? Because unless they get it, doubt I'm seeing it.

Random side note, I need to get Lupin season 1 still

You can, but you really shouldn't because it will ruin Gunbuster for you, and you don't simply do not want to go into Gunbuster at all spoilered. It's a situation where it is its own story, but there's enough linked to the original that it will impact you that much less.

Ah, thank you very much for the information. I do believe I will be holding off on it unless Gunbuster gets a release too
