It's surely one of those obscure titles ADV picked up by the bushel, but really, I love ARIA. It's so refreshing, and oddly calming, after reading frenzetic action manga. This little manga is the first science fiction title I've seen to incorporate slice-of-life themes in such a stop-to-smell-the-roses way.The artwork is beyond gorgeous, and I love the characters, even if they're a little two-dimensional. So, has anyone else come across ARIA?

Glad to see there's someone else who loves this title. Its carefree storyline reminds me Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (okay, okay), but it's more light-hearted and comedic, so I'd say it's more likely to be accepted by the general public. However, unlike YKK, which uses pencil (B/W and color), pastel and watercolor to create serene and tranquil feelings, Aria relies on vivid CG color and perspective views to build up a magnificent yet delicate world. Highly recommended.
By the way, its radio drama is now available, and thanks to Aria's Japanese fandom, Alicia is voiced by onee-sama Kikuko INOUE. ![]() Last edited by dormcat on Mon May 09, 2005 2:16 am; edited 1 time in total |

CHRIST this is a beautiful manga, really one of the best... and in fact, overlooked
![]() I have all 3 volumes, but the real question here is not who's reading it, but more of.. like with PRINCESS TUTU, where's the rest of it? I like the setting on MARS, it's a mish mash of fun stuff... I've never been to Venice, but the vibe you get from this manga pretty much puts you there... gotta go and read my books again *yay* |

ADV hasn't listed the release date for the fourth volume yet. There are six volumes out in Japan, so I'm assuming they're going to wait a little while in between volumes so they don't get caught up too fast. At least, that's what I'm hoping.
A possible anime version? Wow, that would be amazing... Neo-Venezia is beautiful enough in b&w, but in color... ![]() |

Aria is such a wonderful title. It really is a shame not a lot of people have given it many glances. It's definitely a leisurely paced manga, and I have to agree that it's a nice break from any type of manga.
An anime adaptation could definitely be amazing. It just needs to encompass a powerful music score. I always seem to have one playing in my head when I'm reading Aria. |

Pretty much the usual questions: Is it worth importing, and what are the odds of it getting picked up for translation?
