I almost hate to say this but it's actually a relief that it isn't the Kuroko's Basket guy getting more of this for once.

*facepalms* Seriously WHAT THE HELL?
As much as I'd love to rant and rave about this, it'd be a waste of time since I've pretty much come to terms with there being psychos or pricks out there in the world who would pull this sort of thing. I hope they guy gets turned in soon, but considering how long the mangaka of Kuroko no basket has been stalked with threats, I won't hold my breath.

I suggest people look into this guy's work a bit before lumping this together with Kuroko's basketball...
His work is purely extreme right-wing nationalist revisionist history propaganda in manga-form.
Not that he deserves getting bomb threats but it's not surprising in the least that he'd get threatened considering the politics he espouses.

So what? Just because the dood's a conservative right wing nut doesn't mean I want to see him dead for it.

What is it with manga creators and receiving death threats as of late?

I've read about him before, and he says what a lot of Japanese people perceive to be true about the corruption and hypocrisy of their own society, including how America treats Japan. Not surprising then that some Yanks object to his opinions, might be them who threaten him with bombs for opposing the Iraq war.

I've never heard of this Yoshinori Kobayashi before now but how I hear it,he sounds like a real jerk to me. Also,faintsmile1992 doesn't really have any evidence that Americans were even involved. This guy might have ticked off a lot of people, people who might not like what he had to say. This guy may be an America-bashing slimeball, but I'm not going to wish this creep were dead.
This Kobayashi character might have ticked off others like Chinese or Koreans who don't like what he has to say but probably wouldn't take criticism of their countries all that well. We don't know. We should probably wait until we have more info.

There won't be any since it's the usual rhetoric that has no actual basis in reality and spreads amongst conspiracy circles all over the internet along with all the other garbage special interests invent to justify their prejudice.
ANN is not one of those places though, and faintsmile if you try to turn this forum in to your soapbox of political prejudice and nationalistic hate-speech one more time you will be moderated or banned. It's sad when someone is so infested with prejudice that they more resemble what they accuse others of being than the actual accused. Either way though, your political sideshow has no place here and you have been warned on this matter repeatedly. The warnings are done though; if you do it again you get moderation at the very least.

Here's a sample of what Kobayasi's work looks like.

My grandfather fought against the Japanese right-wing during World War 2.
He was doing his duty as an American soldier.
At the end of the war, he never had any hate or prejudice towards the Japanese people.
After watching Studio Ghibli's "Grave of the Fireflies", I now consider myself a pacifist.

What's the main motives for the bomb threat?
I can come up with a few.
1: Anger of the government's irresponsibilities after the 2011 earthquake/tsunami & nuclear disaster.
2: Reaction of the island dispute between China, Korea & Russia.
3: Out of Frustration from the recent elections.
4: Opponents on the other side of the political spectrum (mostly the left-wing).
Still, it doesn't do any good to target a mangaka just because of his/her own personal political ideologies, no matter how bad they sound or appear to be to most people.

I read its because he opposes nuclear power, so its either someone like a pissed off nuclear power station worker or else its a prank.
For those interested, there's a more balanced and informative view of Kobayashi presented in Schodt's Dreamland Japan if anyone wants to read about him for themselves. Though Kobayashi is seen in Japan as an edgy and rebellious mangaka, Schodt doesn't present him as holding extremely unpopular fringe views.
And no one has seriously accused America of sending the bomb either, I posted the ironic smiley at the end to show it isn't to be taken literally and no one should have read it as such. It was only intended as a humorous observation about some Americans on the internet, and not to place blame, that is all.

I did some research on Yoshinori Kobayashi and basically,he was a lot like my previous judgment of him was like,a first-class jerk. This guy blames America for a lot of Japan's problems and thinks that Japan should once more go to war. He did a manga series called "On War" in which he tried to rewrite history and basically whitewashes many Japanese atrocities during the Second World War. Let's face it. Kobayashi isn't a guy who you're going to find in the manga section of any bookstore or comic book store in America.
Maybe the guy's just angry that none of his manga isn't going to be published in America and that's why he's so angry.('') Anyway, this guy would tick off a lot of people by the views he holds and that's probably why those death threats are out there. Also, like faintsmile1992 said,it could just be a prank or disgruntled nuclear power plant employees just acting out.
Whatever the reason, this Kobayashi guy may be a world class jerk but that's no reason to want him dead.

The most notorious Japanese extreme ultra-nationalist was actor/writer Yukio Mishima. He was obsessively proud of his samurai history & formed his own army called Tatenokai (Shield Society) who attemped & failed a coup d'etat on the headquarters of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. After being jeered at by JSDF soldiers during a failed motivational speech, he committed harakiri. Eventhough he tried and failed to bring Japan back to it's former Imperialist past, Yukio Mishima died like a samurai in typical samurai fashion.
