What is your favorite manga and why? (No more than three)

Will my 1st favorite would have to be Fushigi Yugi by Yu Watase. I love the plot, and I'm way into the Shojo stuff. I'm a girl, by the way. I love how Tomahome always saves Miaka, and stuff like that, and how they have a lasting romance.

My 2nd would be Magic Knight Rayearth by CLAMP. That series has really great art, and it's really cool to see how the three girls go through this really fantasy world together, and build a lasting friendship.

My 3rd would have to be Imadoki by Yu Watase. I love reading this manga because it has great plot, and I love the way it relates to real life, moving to a new school and making friends. Also, the main character has a pet fox. Foxes are my favorite animal! Anime smile

Planetes. I still have to read the last volume but what I've read is very good. I like how they pay good attention to the scientific parts of the story so it actually sounds like a plausible future. Not to mention the artwork is just gorgeous.

Yazawa Ai's NANA is my current poison.

Much love for the characters (even Hachi, though she tends to get irritating at times), the artwork, the story itself, etc. Everything about it is ace. <3

I don't read much manga, but I can tell you what my two favorite manga are:

1. Excel Saga- The Excel manga is a lot calmer and darker that the overhyper anime. There aren't that many obnoxious characters that basically plagued the anime, but it still goes all out in paroding Japanese culture and traditions. The artwork is very good, but it does require more involved reading. It took me about three volumes to really get a good grasp of the story, but I love reading it, if so for the dynamic characters Excel, Hyatt, Il Palazzo, Elgala (my favorite character in the manga), and Mince (Menchi in the anime).

2. Chrono Crusade - The manga is just as great as the anime, and it is a excellent companion to the series. As expected, the manga develops the relationship between Rosette and Chrono more closely than the anime, which makes it a very entertaining and tremendous read. Just like in Excel, the artwork is fabulous, but Chrono is easier to read than Excel. Despite that, though, I like both of them equally. Smile

I just started reading this, but I also like DearS. I only read the first volume so I can't say too much about it. I will say that I'm starting to like the developing romance between Takeya and Ren, but what's up with their sex-crazed teacher? Yikes! Shocked

My current favorites are:

Ouran High School Host Club - VIZ got the rights to this one already (it's only, like, 5 vols in Japan right now). I LOVE this manga. It's about a pauper who joins (coughforcedcough) the school host club. The high school is full of eccentric rich kids with way too much time on their hands, which makes it hilarious. Especially Tamaki, that guy has more mood swings than a menopausal woman. Shocked

Full Metal Alchemist - This manga has made me cringe, cry, and laugh. Sometimes all in one volume.

Gravitation - Yes, I know some of you are rolling your eyes, but I love Maki Murakami's randomness. You never know exactly what she has in store for each volume. Laughing

My current favorite would have to be Sexy Voice and Robo since I'm all geeked up about Viz releasing it in June. Here's the cover for the U.S release.

Not as eye-catching as the Japanese release I'll say but it's still pretty damn cool. Can't wait!

My current favourite would be Angel Sanctuary because it's complex, has a lot of interesting characters, and it's topped off by beautiful artwork. Too bad it's only being released one issue about every three months here. But at least I have something to look forward to for the next three-or-so years Smile.

And occasionally I can get into Lupin / Lupin - World's Most Wanted so much that it becomes a temporary favourite. He's just an interesting character, and the humour is quite cool. Although it takes a little bit of getting used to, which is why I'm not always in a Lupin-mood, so to speak.

Let's stick to complete english words. "n" by itself isn't a word.

I generally don't like saying my favorites because they're way too common. But if you want to know:

1. Naruto - It's just got the best story and characters. I like almost every single character (except for people like Gato...) because they're all unique! Uzumaki Naruto is one of the most well-developed characters I've seen in awhile. By the way, it's not all action, and when it is, it's not pointless fighting. When you think about it, the story can get pretty detailed. Kishimoto-san always leaves ends chapters and volumes at the good parts! The art style is my favorite (go Kishimoto-sensei!), and you can see his artwork improve throught the volumes. Also, who doesn't love ninjas?

2. Bleach - Equally as good as Naruto. The characters are detailed and well-designed. The art is great, and I love the story. It's one of those stories that's easy to get into with great humor and interesting characters, so much that you want to keep buying it.

3. Peacemaker Kurogane - I checked this out recently (along with the anime), and Peacemaker is amazing. In the manga, it's different from the anime (a few years after), so it was a little confusing. But, all the characters are lovable (especially my two favorites Susumu-kun and Suzu-kun!) and the art style is also one of the best in my opinion. The story is emotional and funny at the same time.

P.S. - I would like to add Chobits and Negima! somewhere in there, but Peacemaker just pushed them down to positions 4 and 5.

Hmm, this is tough, but for me it would be....

Naruto: A little overly hyped at the moment, but by far one of the better shonen titles out there. I can't wait to get volume 6! The characters are wonderfully developed and executed: the comedic characters are funny, the evil characters are chilling, the hapless characters are easy to sympathize with, ect. And the way Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura's personalities clash is just hysterical! The art has a sketchy quality to it, but it works well with the designs. And although confusing at times, the way the battles are illustrated is simply amazing. I just can't help but love this manga. Smile

Excel Saga: I agree with biliano, the manga is far superior to the anime. It has an unusual quality to it that makes the story (or lack thereof) so absorbing, and the mixture of outrageous and mundance situations makes it so strange it could be plausible. The characters are ridiculous and yet their problems are so easy to relate to. I love the artwork, very chaotic in composition at times but also very detailed. And even though the story seems to go nowhere, this is the sort of manga that I can follow raptuously, waiting just to see what strange situation Excel and company will get into next.

Inu-Yasha: Okay, VERY mainstream, I know, but I don't let that stop me from enjoying Takahashi's most epic title. With a mixture of real historical detail and ancient Japanese mythology, the world of Inu-Yasha is just so wonderfully absorbing. One can't help but love the characters, who are some of the most developed and vibrant I've seen in any action manga title. Though crude and sloppy at first glance, the artwork I find is quite nice, with great emphasis on brushstrokes and attention to facial expressions, which can range to cartoony to very subtle. Action is clearly expressed and seems to come alive, never confusing at times. I love the epic scope of this manga, which starts off as your typical "find the magic jewels before the bad guys do" quest and becomes so much more as it goes on.
