Yosuga no Sora (TV)
So, I was wondering who else was enjoying this and why. I just watched both episode 1 & 2 and really liked it (illicit boobies). Another aspect I'm enjoying is the relationship the protagonist and his sister lead. I don't know why but since I found out last week that I had 3-5 sisters I've been interested in this sort of stuff! But of course, his yandere (I hope) sister isn't everything. There's a lot of interesting girls, and I'm even liking the character archetype I tend to dislike (perhaps thanks to Toradora's minori). It's a pretty naughty series, and it doesn't look like there's any censoring. PS: what's up with that student's beard? Now then, what does "ikitai" mean? There are plenty enough high school guys with beards; my best mate in high school had a massive abe lincoln growing on his face.
I was a little reluctant to make this thread after the first episode; I kind of half enjoy the series, yet feel that these things work a lot better in visual novels. I've started reading the VN anyways, but things like the spoiler[masturbation thing]to me didn't really fit the mood of episode 1. Sora herself interests me somewhat as a character, but I'm a little bit over female leads who are stuck up - she is the second stuck up sibling archetype in this season alone... That said I'll keep watching it. It looks like they're shifting focus as though they are going to try to resolve the various paths of the novel but then take one final "route" (as Clannad did, but with different implications I guess) - I personally am not a big fan of this tactic with this specific kind of VN but meh. So far it is turning out OK, but the harem aspect is too blatant for my anime tastes. I will be interested to see the relationship between the spoiler[hard-working girl and the princess; yet another illicit sibling match? Hell I'm a massive yuri fan anyway so bring it on!] On a side note, becoming interested in this kind of thing is not advisable if you are meeting a new female relative for the first time at an older age. I'm not chiding you, I'm talking from experience. |

If you want to tell me to mind my own business, then, by all means, please do so; I won't mind in the least. |

I have no idea what is in that small town's water supply, but it seems to be having a salutary effect on dah tit-tays. So far, it seems like Candy Store Owner has the biggest set.

The plot summary I read on this made me think it was going to be a slice of life drama. The first episode leads me to believe it is essentially just a harem porn series. The animation is good and I like some of the characters so I'll give this probably 4 episodes to prove that it has a real plot.

Episode 1 I thought was "ok" . What happened after the ED defintely surprised me, to the point I was curious to what mood the show would even be like. The OP and ED kinda make you wonder also as one seems serious and the other a lot more comical.
Episode 2 I was relatively bored out of my mind. Like Skylark was saying the harem is pretty blatant... but I think my issue is I feel like this show feels very mechanical. Like I'm literally watching eroge puppets play out their roles. Maybe that's the point, I dunno, but not so much my style. Honestly there's a lot less fan service than I expected also... or maybe it's just how they put it in? Aka spoiler[ towards the end of the episode ] |

Decided to check out the first two episodes, I thought that I could stand a little naughty and the it could no be much cornier then Amagami. It is not that bad, I have seen Kis x Sis, Ladies vs Butlers and kanokon, this is fairly tame, just a little taboo that I am willing to have in this series. We have standard all girls love guy for some reason, single other male friend who is a pervert and acts the fool, and I won't get started on each girl's archtype. But I am enjoying this, both the music and scenery are nice, we get to see some naughty with near no censoring, yet fanservice is not excesive, actually I wonder why he had to take his shirt off.
He is just bishounening everywhere, like some sort of haem machine, he even spoiler[has his twin sister and a college aged maide.] Kind of weired they have two EDs and an extra short at the end, kind of feels like they don't have enough story, but I have not been bored yet. I shall watch on. |

I was about to ask the same thing Though, of course, it's a personal matter.
Borrowing that for my quote file So far the series doesn't seem to reach any heights, though. I think I'm going to keep my eye on the thread here, and if I see that it's actually more enjoyable than I thought, I'll marathon it. |

I'm sorry, but I immediately thought of Sister Princess . I have always been interested in the sibling dynamic in not only anime, but books and live action movies and television as well. Anyway, I thought the first episode of Yosuga no Sora was decent for just being an episode to introduce all the characters and potential love interests. The scene at the end really caught me by surprise! I was watching it in my dorm room with my computer turned towards my roommate - it had to have been the most awkward situation that has happened during my time watching anime and I've been watching it for about 16 years. I will, however, continue watching this series just have to make sure my headphones are on next time. |

I'll call it now: it's the Resident Deity of the shrine seen in Episode 2. There's no other reason for a complex that huge to be that well-maintained (and by a single individual, no less). ...Unless the wishes of the faithful are being granted, and the Donation Box for the God(dess) of Boobies runneth over, that is... |

@ Rime of the Ancient Otaku - you could be right. Now THAT would be a shrine worth preserving...

I've really been enjoying this anime, defiantly going to be ending up in my top 3 this season (and im watching 13 series this season, excluding continuing series).
So im watching the first episode, getting my first impressions of the series and thinking about how the main characters are mostly colored with shades of gray, I then continued to watch in my usual detached manner, and then BAM!
Aside from it being rather unexpected, im actually not all that worried about it, because it feels like its there to be a part of the story and not to be all controversial. |

Softcore hentai banzai! Boobies banzai!
But where is mah bro and sister love and sexual intercourse-ed relationship? I hope it's not heading where it seems, but where I think it will. Some very dramatic things, a few dead people, and a yandere sister doing very naughty stuff. And of course, a very sexualized sibling relationship of which I've just seen in hentai. If not I'll simply use my imagination. Holy crap, I love this anime.
Now, what part of it is a joke? I'll give you a hint:

Eh, the thing that turned me off about this show instantly this week was when I found out that it is being told in the same way as Amagami - it turns out that I absolutely hate this "different arc for each VN route" thing. So.. I'm gonna drop it now and read the source material instead. 4 episodes is not enough, imo, to properly be able to empathise with the characters and their struggles/relationships before they get removed from you and replaced with the next one; this method of storytelling is a bucket of ice over the head of my immersion.

I think it's a slight variation on it though, instead of starting completely over and rewriting the characters each time, as they basically do in Amagami, it looks like this will start at a set point and move on from decision points.... like a game/visual novel. To egoist's theory.... I guess it wouldn't be impossible to include a "bad end" or two into the series. Although I do partially agree with the criticism though. Shows like these so often feature major dramas for each character and the main character helps solve them in his romantic quest... what I always think of when I am presented with an alternate arc is how I now feel sorry for the girls who apparently will not get be getting the help they got in the preveious arc because "our hero" isn't there to help anymore. |
