Wow, awesome to see Hunter x Hunter at #10. It's crazy to think Togashi still has such a large fanbase after all the crap he has put all his fans through. I mean seriously, he's already on another break... we won't be getting v28 any time soon :\
And One Piece just owns in general. Add 3-5 sales together and it still doesn't beat the two volumes of One Piece. I can only see sales continuing to grow from here out

Surprised to see Kimi ni Todoke there. I don't know the manga, but I do know the anime, thus I conclude that the manga is a whole lot better.

I'm kind of sad that Vinland Saga didn't make the cut.
Although I know it's in a monthly serialization, did it just not have a volume released this year so far, or is it just not selling that well in Japan?

Exactly the same actually, the anime adaptation is VERY faithful to the original source. The thing is that Volume 10 is a very pivotal part of the story. Still it surprises me it outsold Bleach, very glad about it though as that means we almost certainly will get a second season

Volume 9 will come out in japan 23rd of June. Volume 8 came out 23rd of December 09.
I'm almost catching up with them (buying the french volumes, where the 7th is coming out 10th of June).
I'm pretty suprised that Naruto didn't made the top 5 of best selling in the 1st half. Maybe is this the beginning of the downfall of naruto?

Yeah, Vinland Saga missed the cut for this half, just like the bulk of OP 55 was counted toward last half and not this half. Otherwise it should be around 15-30 spots.
As for Naruto, it is about where they are. In Japan, there OP and than everything else, [with exception of MAYBE Nana].
Naruto is usually fighting spots with FMA, Nodame, Kimi, and Bleach after OP and Nana [which usually took between 3-5 spots by themselves.] And currently both Nodame and FMA are slightly more popular than Naruto.
As for Kimi ni Todoke, it has always been one of the top shojo manga, but it was more distinct taht the storyline is aimed toward Asian culture with its "feel good" atmosphere and its more tranditional Shojo storyline.
Which is different from other top shojo with Nana's more mature story, or Nodame and Lovely Complex's more comedic approach.

Nana is hardly what one would call Shoujo. imo it's a perfect example of josei.

Well, you categorize the manga by which magazine it appears in, therefore, Ah! My Goddess, Ai Yori Aoshi, Azumanga Daioh, Maison Ikkoku, and Bamboo Blade are Seinen; Love Hina, Ichigo 100%, I"s, Boys Be are Shonen; or Vampire Knight, Natsume Yūjinchō are Shojo.
As such, Nana is still classified as shojo since the series is serialized in Cookie, a Shojo magazine. The magazine also serialize Honey Bitter whose artist Miho Obana also did Kodomo no Omocha.
There's not a lot notable Josei manga in recent time (In a strick sense). The recent stand out are Nodame, Gokusen, and Honey & Clover.
On the other hand, despise been categorized as Josei, Nodame actually won the Kodansh award in Shojo category since the award does not have a Josei category.

Ahahahahaha!
That's why it's the #1 manga for men in their 20's, men in their 30's, and men in their 40's (as well as ranking in the top ten for women in their 20's/30's/40's)

nana? it's definitely shojo.
your personal opinion doesn't change its genre.
nodame is the best example of what josei is.

hahaha, the one is kid is you, Kid
one piece is shonen manga, so this series actually for kids n teens, the problem is why adult read this manga and they love it...
so if you 'wasnot 2 able 2 complete 100 eps' just read 'your adult' series like naruto or bleach, dont talk useless thing about one piece
ps: sorry, poor english
