The page for "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" (anime entry #3923 on this website) forgot to mention that the movie itself is the sequel of "Final Yamato".
To explain my point, the movie itself takes place in 2220 A.D., 17 years after the events depicted in "Final Yamato", and "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" includes a flashback referencing the Yamato's destruction in that classic film. |

For future reference, the "How to submit "Related Anime"" thread (where this sort of thing is normally dealt with) is linked from the announcement "IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS". Also, do you have any proof of your assertion? Say, a link to a plot description by a neutral third party?

I don't need other parties to prove this as I attended the screening of the movie at the Fantasia Festival 2010. Anyway, there was the scene in "Space Batleship Yamato: Resurrection" where Kodai was looking back to 2203 A.D. after hearing that the Yamato got rebuilt on planet Aquarius, now a chunk of ice. The flashback portion of this scene used footage from "Final Yamato" (set in 2203 and in continuity with this movie) in order for the narrator to explain the situation where the Yamato sank to the bottom of that planet's ocean after its original commanding officer Juzo Okita detonated it to prevent the planet's water waves from reaching Earth. According to the narrator, that sad moment was the last time Kodai and Sanada saw the ship until 2220, the time setting of this 2009 film. |
