I just have two questions about anime DVD complete collection box sets.
1)Does anime DVDs that have both the American dubbed version along with the Japanese dubbed with English subtitles, does the Japanese with english subtitles side of the disc have the original musical score of the anime?
For example in the case of Dragonball Z....the American dubbed version will have Bruce Falconer's music(funimation/saban composer), will the japanese english subtitled side of the disc have the original Dragonball Z music by the japanese composer Shinsuki Kikuchi?
Will any or all DVDs sold here in the States have the anime's original music on the japanese dubbed with english subtitles side?
2)who does the subtitling work on the japanese dubbed side of the discs?
Is it the japanese themselves? Or the american dub companies?
thanks in advance.

Yes. It should be noted that very, very, very few American companies decide to make a new musical score and they keep the original score for the English dub instead. 4kids is the only one are still doing their own scores, IIRC (haven't seen anything from them in a while).
In fact, with DBZ, the recent Dragon Box R1 releases completely drop the English dub with the English score and just keep the English with the JP score plus the JP track.

Yes. 98% of anime DVDs sold nowadays will have the JP dub with English subtitles (2% is mostly 4kids stuff and Pokemon).

The American companies do them.

Not always. Some of us who watched Monster in fansubs were disappointed that the song "Be My Baby" doesn't appear on the R1 soundtrack. Either the rights holder wouldn't license the song for the R1 release or, more likely, they wanted more money for the rights than Viz was willing to pay.

I believe it's generally the R1 licensor. Apparently there have recently been a few R2 Blu-ray releases with English subtitles; I don't know what will happen with those.
In the case of Funimation's recent streaming of noitaminA titles, the translators were contracted by FujiTV, though I'm guessing Funi had some say in the matter.

That being said, alternate American releases are always a contended issue on forums and reviews, so make sure to check out title-specific ones to confirm whether or not a disc is up to your requirements.

how?how can I check if a particular DVD has the original japanese score or not? websites never bother to put up that info. like amazon.com for example.
they are having a sale on anime where its even 50% off on complete series box sets,...so i decided to buy a bunch of different anime, but i held myself back from getting any of the ones i really, really wanted because i wasn't sure if the discs that had the japanese subs with subtitles in english, also had the original musical score or not.
the only anime i have in dvd form is 2 Gasaraki dvds, ghost in the shell 1st movie, 1 naruto shippuden movie, and Spriggan.
i do have the entire Dragon ball series from DB through DBZ to DBZ:GT......along with the entire Saint Seiya series, plus some of there movies, but the dbz and saint seiya dvds are the spanish dubs, and spanish dubbing companies never remove the original soundtrack/musical score.
this is why i just, i just don't know. don't own enough dvds released in the u.s.a.
i wanted to get bleach, yuyu hakusho, and one piece, but didn't dare to because i just wanted to make sure it had the original score.
what i did get from amazon sale was...don't laugh(LOL!)
KIDDY GRADE
LYRICAL NANOHA'S A
MY-ZHIME-MAI OTOME
ELEMENTAL GELADE
SAIYUKI RELOAD GUNLOCK
FATE STAY NIGHT
NARUTO SHIPPUDEN BOX 1 AND 2
FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST SEASONS 1 AND 2
i know the first three are fanservice, but i hear they're well produced.
i wanted to get soul eater and GITS:S.A.C., but i ran out of money.
if anyone has ever seen the anime KIBA or S-Cry-ed, and can tell me if its worth getting , please let me know.
p.s.
thanks for the replies to my questions, everyone.

I know it's a matter of opinion, but you should have gotten Stand Alone Complex over any of those series.
