How did I know this article was written by a certain Encyclopedia editor and forum member?
I think the genre is interesting. I'd love to see the manga style popularized and respected enough that things like training manuals like on business etiquette and the such be done in manga style and used in a professional manner. |

The credit is right under the title. 
In fact many training manuals and tool books featuring Shima Kosaku characters and/or illustrated by Hiroikane have been published (English titles are not official): Introduction to Wine 
Kenshi Hiroikane on Konosuke Matsushita's Management Skills

Just to name a few; there are dozens more. I have sample pages of the last one if you want to take a look (unfortunately it's the Chinese edition and I don't know if you can read it). |

The only U.S.-released product similar to this manga are the Salary Man Kintaro anime and Miike movie.

When I got down to the forum link, I knew there wouldn't be many posts here, so all the more, thanks, thanks, thanks for this article. It was very interesting to this 37-year old reader.
As for Hirokane in English, there are a few things: * the "Human Crossings" TV anime came out some years ago * the old "Domain of Murder" OVA was his too, I believe * a small bit of the Shima Kosaku manga was translated over the course of a few issues of the long-defunct magazine "Mangajin," which approached Japanese comics as a language-learning tool (each page was printed as-is, but there were English translations and notes on each facing page). Anyway, thanks again for spotlighting an artist who is huge in Japan, but gets very, very little attention stateside. |

Ah, so this person did Human Crossing/Scramble?
I just finished watching that a few weeks ago after I picked it up out of Rightstuf's bargain bin. It was nice to have a series that was grounded in everyday life and wasn't too melodramatic. |

Speaking of which, Hirokane-sensei often have dinners with former Japanese prime ministers (Koizumi, Abe, etc.) and other important political and financial figures. I don't think any other Japanese mangaka -- popular stateside or not -- has comparable connections. |

I'd love to see this series in English; it sounds fascinating. And more series aimed toward adult readers in general.
I also like how the interview really underlines some of the differences between American and Japanese styles of doing business, like talking about getting drunk with your bosses as something that's not only typical but almost expected. |

A fascinating reminder that the manga we see translated is just a small sliver of what's produced in Japan. I can't see this selling well here, though personally it sounds fascinating. Listening to their discussions of the business world in East Asia was also neat. Please keep up these kinds of articles! I like being educated.

To continue with the uniformity, that actually sounds rather interesting but I don't know nearly enough Japanese to read it.
(And I laughed at the Pakistan and Palestine comment, sounds like the kind of thing my mom has to deal with all the time) |

Whenever I hear anything about salary man or businessman manga, your user name/user image is the first thing in my head This time was no different.
That said, the manga sounds very interesting. I'm always looking to expand my interests, and this sort is just so different from what we are usually given. The chance of an English release are rather slim, though...And the President Kosaku series is published by Kodansha, so either Kodansha International or Del Rey would (most likely) license it, thus limiting the chance even more. |

Thanks for posting this. I've been really intrigued by the salaryman genre for many years, but the only title I have seen was Salaryman Kintaro (which was great, BTW).
I echo the general sentiment here that I would enjoy being able to read Kenshi Hiroikane's work in English. |
