This has been gnawing at me for a while and with the Darker Than Black sequel debuting, I think this whole "Kouji Ishii/Yasushi Ishii" thing really needs some closure. Before posting about this, I used both ANN's and Google's search function to see if anyone else posted on this, and it appears to have only occurred here. If it was brought up previously (I know it has in a few error reports), pardon me.

A few years back, I was looking up things about Hellsing's composer and was surprised to find that he, Kouji Ishii, was a seiyuu. It seemed odd, so I checked the website link in his entry (it was either his own or of his agency profile, but it is no longer present there) and found nothing there that noted he participated on the show or if he had any sort of musical background (anime theme songs included).

The name "Yasushi Ishii" has also been associated with the credit, and it appears more likely to be the real one, despite what was said in the "Duplicate persons" thread. He is indeed a separate, actual person and going by the entry given in the Japanese Wikipedia (yes, I know, but it appears to be accurate in this case), the link at the bottom (redirected from "http://www.ishii-yasushi.com/") of that page, and his blog (he even gives a little insight on the progress of his DtB score), he is the composer and it is how his name is in English. While both men share the same family kanji, their given names are different and only Yasushi's matches the one listed on DtB's site. And, conversely with Kouji Ishii, he has no discernible experience in voice acting.

Capping all of this off is ANN's own mentioning of one "Yasushi Ishii" in their DtB article. There is also apparently a ten-year age difference between the two (if JP Wiki is to be believed) and, finally, neither look alike (for whatever that's worth).
