This is awesome. This literally takes creativity to the next level. If fans can do this, what is to prevent them from having creative input on future Gundam anime projects?

I just wish they would make a statue of Wing Zero from Gundam Wing, it was the 1st Gundam series to be exported from Japan and it made the Gundam franchise popular. It has had more international dubs than any other and every Gundam series that came after tried to emulate Wing's theme because it is the most popular. Therefore Gundam Wing should be the mascot of the franchise. If they build a Tallgeese statue, I'd buy it and live in it.

darksharingan, maybe because they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first Gundam series and the series as a whole. The RX-78 is more of the mascot since just about the series following the original have had protagonists pilot what is essentially a redone version of the RX-78. That is, I have notice in many Gundam series after Mobile Suit Gundam that the lead Gundam is essentially the RX-78 (they do have variations of the RX-78, after all) in a different outfit. It's like with Batman toys. First, you have the original toys then comes all the other variations.

The awesomeness of the bust aside, I can't stand it when toy makers get lazy with their product, creating cheap clear plastic models and toys, then selling them at higher prices labeled under "limited."
"Limited" doesn't mean "limited effort..." |

Agreed... but still wants I'm sure that the set will go for a pretty penny, will likely price me out of the market. |

Totally false. A lot of the Asian countries got the original Gundam on TV in the early 80s straight after its ran on Japanese airwaves, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. Lots of Asian males, not just Japanese, in their 30s would remember watching the original Gundam or build a Gunpla in their childhood. Some celebrities even confess to being Gundam otakus - refering to the original of course. The Asian Gundam market is many times bigger and more mature than the NA market. Old Western geek born in the 70s says Star Wars, old Asian geeks born in the 70s says Gundam. That's the popularity and the status the original Gundam enjoys in Asia.
And Wing in itself borrowed many elements from the original. Wing would never live up to the original's popularity, ever. |

It's interesting to hear about how the process actually happened elsewhere in the world but it's understandable that North American fans may, more often than not, try to use their own experience as a starting point when talking about the franchise's popularity.

The only question I must ask about this project is whether fellow fans will be allowed to wed each other atop this figure. Chances for couples to marry on the full-sized statue were notably slim, if I remember correctly.

God Gundam carries beam sabers, but Domon preferred other attacks. |

Yeah, not counting the way the original series played out on Toonami, and getting interrupted by 9/11 just 4 episodes from completion. And even if Wing Gundam played first, I enjoyed First Gundam more. |
