Well deserved!
I really not much into anime movies, dunno why, they are not that appealing to me but Ghibli and particularly Miyazaki movies are ones I really really enjoy. Now if you can only get us freely enjoy the Ghibli museum Miyazaki  Its always funny to see how people always try to take photos while staff and other fellow visitors not looking  I have many blurred photos because of this restraining rule  Not like I dont understand why theres such rule but but but...

If anyone in the world deserves a cultural merit award,it's Hayao Miyazaki. He should be proud of himself and he basically deserves it. He has every right to be pleased.

Glad to hear it, guy definitely deserves it (heck Studio Ghibli in general deserves such an award in general)
@Dan: Really? I find as I get older I prefer cinematic anime such as the Ghibli Films, Summer Wars, Redline, etc over a lot of TV anime, but thats just me. Anywho yeah always glad to see Miyazaki get some praise. |

Actually find it weird that he get's it so much later than the people mentioned in the article?
There are not much exhibitions/musea allowing this, don't know why Studio Ghibli should? Doesn't it mostly defeat the point of it? Even then, tryin' to take a picture while navigating through all those people isn't exactly something I would want to spend my time on, already were completely wrecked with back pain just going through the exposition (and we went on a rainy day, double the fun :p On a side note that was the thing I hated the most about Japan, rainy days, with a whole population having umbrella's just at the correct height to stick out my eyes) |

Good for Mr. Miyazaki, he deserves to be honored in such a way, not only for representing Japan in such a class act style, but by changing the animation industry in general. Many of you might not know this but if it weren't for Mr. Miyazaki's movies a lot of American animators wouldn't be as good as it is because they wouldn't have the inspiration. Take Pixar for example, they almost if not always watch studio Ghibli's film when they are in a fix. Congratulations Mr. Miyazaki, on your award and on being the modern day Walt Disney.

I just took pictures outside the museum - like on the roof-top garden and enjoyed what I saw. |
