All I want to know is the average wait time to get in?
When AX is happening, that's all people talk about but we don't hear/read anything about Comiket. Why? On Twitter it seemed like lines were 4-6 hours long to get in. Meaning AX isn't that bad at all (specially after Day 1).
I'm really curious because I want to attend Comiket on my next trip to Japan.

Based on second-hand knowledge: If you want to get in "early" and have a chance at getting things from popular circles, yes, you pretty much stand in line for 4-5 hours. If you just want to check out Comiket and don't have specific buying plans, you can simply enter in later, after the line clears up, and then it's very quick.

I don't think this is right. I went last summer and arrived at 11:30am for both days 1 and 2. At that time there was no line up and I got in rather quickly. However I found the cosplay area outside the front entrance to Big Sight was really crowded and didn't even bother going in to have a look either day

Yes, that would match what I heard. Perhaps I haven't been clear when I said "early", I meant "within the first ~30-60 minutes from opening".

With the reports of that heat they need to work on getting cooled somehow. With that many people and that heat that is very dangerous.
That is pretty impressive amount of people for the event.

That depends on how popular are the goods you want.
I went last summer as well and attended days 1 and 3 (skipped 2). Ended up lining up for an hour+ before opening each time (took another 40+ min. just to get in once the line started moving), mainly because I aimed for some (apparently) really popular circles. And that's just the time to get inside. Once inside, I lined up for another 2 hrs for a popular circle, to give an extreme example. I pretty much realized that there's no way I can get to all the popular circles I like before they sell out so I had to prioritize.
Looking back, I see why veterans recommend hitting up the less popular circles and instead go to Melonbooks/Toranoana for books from the popular circles. I don't regret my choices though since I was able to get the sets not available elsewhere. If there one thing I do regret it's not checking out the commercial booths earlier. And not bringing more food because walking the big halls for a whole day is pretty draining.

Really appreciate all the great feedback. I'll narrow down my circle list. Looking forward to Comiket 97.
I just want to experience Comiket and clear it off my bucket list. The big sight just has an aura to it. Even when I went there to see the Gundam, the allure of the site was too great.
