I thought there was somewhat of an audience for it in Japan, according to those bonus manga notes, anyway. I guess not enough.

Really surprirsed about TenTen, since I thought the manga was popular enough to help the anime. Shigurui is understandable, though.

You can tell when Kon-san is working when you see the gap between his blog updates. Wink But I think he's got a side-job as a lecturer, which is why his next project's a bit slower than usual.

Hooray for more Yona Yona Penguin news!
I predict western audiences probably won't receive it very well; I can't say it looks as lavish as the efforts of those already experienced in full CG animation, and prima facie it all seems decidedly child-friendly, perhaps more so than other child-oriented anime feature films of late.
Still, I wholeheartedly support Rintaro's directorial efforts. He'll never please everyone, but he's managed to win my respect and trust nonetheless.

You'd think given my user name that I'd be really excited about a Trigun movie... but mostly I'm just wondering why? I know the manga just finished in Japan, but is there really that much of a drive for another anime? Well, hopefully it'll be successful. I like Madhouse, and I liked RideBack, the mecha series they mentioned (though the mecha are really "glorified motorcycle[s] with arms," to quote a character in the series). The CG work was really good.

Also, GATSU, I thought "Wall-E" and "Ratatouille" were overrated, but give "Up" a try, it's a very good movie. Smile

(blows whistle)FOUL! Unfair play! How long has it been released in the US now? What? 2003? The boxset only just got released in the UK last April. Hardly a fair comparison. Looks like he doesn't realise how many of those US sales were exports to other countries. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, Chi's Sweet Home was mentioned. I really enjoyed watching the first season and reading the manga, so I hope Chi will get licensed in the future. Admitingly not as long (episode wise) as Hamtaro, I really have enjoyed reading and watching the series.

Hopefully there will be a third season next year.
