...which would it be and why? For me, I'd love to be a writer on a new Gunslinger Girl series. I'd want to explore a scenario of a new girl who is excellent at her job, but who doesn't like her handler. She'd be perfectly dutiful like all the others, protect him at all costs, but she resents the Conditioning, etc. The handler, for his part, craves the kind of adoration that say, Henrietta, gives to Giuseppe, but can never get it from his girl. It's possible this idea is explored in some form in Gunslinger Girl Teatrino, but I haven't seen that series yet. Also, it would be interesting to write about a handler who was female - explore the big sister - little sister dynamic.

This will probably show how old I am, but I'd want to write the sequel to Sol Bianca (original movie). I want to show the kid whose life the girls influenced grow up to be a cop so he can get paid to chase after the girl he loves...

I''d want to re-write the plot for Gundam SEED Destiny, to have Lord Djibril be the main antagonist and him alone doing the dastardly deeds, like I would've had Djibril plot the assassination of Lacus Clyne as well as assassinating Durandal and orchestrate a big operation to enslave Coordinators by having those that agree with his ideals invade and occupy the Plants and kill those Coordinators who resist and it would be up to Kira, Athrun, Shinn, and all their allies and friends to come together to put an end to Djibril and restore peace for all of Natural and Coordinator kind. I would've also had it that Djibril decides to betray Neo and his team by sending in troops to ambush them in a battle that the Minerva and her crew also gets caught up in, by means of killing two birds with one stone and have the Archangel come to assist the Minerva against the massive enemy forces sent by Djibril. Djibril always seemed to me that he wanted to make all Coordinators suffer

I'd like to write for one of my favorite series, Baki the Grappler, but instead focus on a prequel telling his father's, Yujiro Hanma's, story and his rise to near immortality. Maybe I'd make him completely different as a kid then when he grows up. I'd definitely explain how at the age of sixteen he was fighting the Vietcong and the American troops in the middle of Vietnam. Before, he fought for survival. Eventually, for pleasure. And there's a story behind that.

I wouldn't want to wish my poor creative talents on series I hold dear, so it would have to be a series I don't like so wouldn't mind trashing. Something like Dragonball say.

I would take Sister Princess and make it better. Shine on the nice family dynamic instead of in girls in swims suits. Give the show a decent backstory.
Like he gets nervous before his test, fails, and is so embarressed he drops out, so then his butler sends him to Promise Island to help him recoup from failure. Where he meets 13 girls that need a big brother figure but aren't really his little sisters. (Because everyone knows that if you have a five year old little sister you had to have parents five years ago, and look he has no parents to be seen! Not even a single parent reference in the whole show! I can't think of anyone who would be at least a little bit remorseful about being an orphan.) These 13 girls would depend on him for guidance, making have to have a spine, and by the end of the show we would want to kick the main character so much.
That summary was better than the whole show. Haven't seen it?
Lucky, lucky you.

@sailorsarah08: didn't you know? Wataru's dad was an international espionage agent who doesn't believe in condoms. Unfortunately for him, the Japanese government would no longer pay off the massive child-support bills he'd racked up with 13 different women (explains why none of the 'siblings' look like 'siblings'), and so he had to go rogue and disappear off the face of the earth. In order to distract the angry 13 milfs and daughters, he illegally wired enough money from mafias and syndicates across the globe to buy out Promise Island and even get its school started and threw all of the girls in there. But, fearing for the future, he decided to also toss his only son to them to give them the 'brother' figure in their life in hopes that the girls won't grow up with the intention of tracking down their dead-beat dad. Now poor Wataru must bear the 13 sins of his father with endless suffering in a carefree environment where everything has already been paid for while dad gets plastic surgery and fake identification in Rio de Janero.
Damn, that's the best way I can justify that situation anyways. Maybe I should be put in charge of writing a harem? I know it will at least be fun...
On a more serious note, I wouldn't mind writing a sequel to Outlaw Star, mainly because I always felt that they so easily could have, with the same cast and all. Personally, since the series dealt with treasure hunting, I'd focus more on the political/chaotic society in space side. Like the Outlaw Star crew takes on a job that ends up getting them heavily involved in a nasty ongoing conflict between two Space Pirate factions. They screwed up a job and were to be 'offed,' but through an act of 'mercy' the pirate leaders decide to get them to pay off their debt through work. And so these payoffs end up getting them so heavily involved in the pirate world that they either have to become full fledged pirates, or fight them to the death. This would also heavily test the bonds, faith, and loyalty between their crew members. Suzuka is forced to assassinate one of Fred Low's associates, or Gene is ordered to destroy a Ktarro-Ktarro ship. Plus, there could be a surprise visit from the McDougal brothers; like maybe they end up aiding Gene.
Aww boy, I'm exciting myself just thinking about something that'll never happen. Need to stick to my own stories to be creative with now...

I would like to rewrite Shangri-La so that it makes freaking sense.
I swear, every time I watch a new episode it appears to have been scripted by someone who hasn't seen any of the previous episodes and is going off plot summaries and character profiles. Or something.

The mafia makes everything better!
Seriously that was more coherent than the actual show so your at a good starting point. But don't you know that harem shows aren't supposed to have a plot because it would risk it being good!
I'm totally for the making of Sister Princess RERepure. It had potential (IMO) to be a good "family" driven show, but it turned out this is not something I would show to my family. (Maybe the Hina and Bear-Bear episode) I wish the older girls were cut out so it would be less creepy and make more sense. German Haruka looks like she is 17 or 18 and her "big brother" is 15. I mean really, I can overlook minor details but that was too huge.
Rewrite Kiddy Grade into a 13 episode series. Take out the none plot stuff at the front and back, leaving the suprisingly deep middle arc of awesomeness.

I'd take the role of co-writer of that with you, since I also believe the sense of this anime fell apart at some point. The most senseless was how Kuniko exiled Nagiko (her grandmother) just like that. Really, that's probably when the anime started to cumble for me.

Any series, huh? Well, that's going to be tough because trying to remove perceptions on what people think the series should be rather than my interpretations would be a challenge. Would I have to keep similarities, which for some were a fault? Cast changes? Oh my. So much to think about!
I'd rather create a whole new series, but since this isn't the scope of the thread, here are my top 3:
Air - Time to end the curse. It would have to be another setting with new characters, of course, but this lack of closure just bugged me. Gao.
Strawberry Marshmallow - Coming up with reasons to faceplant Miu would be worth it. It never gets old.
Cowboy Bebop - Yes, the ending will remain. Life goes on and it's time to see just how the crew adapts to stronger and smarter bounties. Expect two new characters to make their introduction. This series has fantastic potential and there's no reason to waste it.
*runner up series I'd bring to a close
Love Hina - A new surgical procedure transfers the testicles from Naru to Keitarou. Well, that was easy.
Suzuka - Honoka goes postal and rids us of the two most annoying characters in anime I've ever had the pain to endure. The city thanks her as well and gives her the key. She swings the other way and lives happily ever after with Nana. Life is good.

I agree with the Love Hina thing, by the end of watching that anime I wish I had never watched it.
I would re-write Negima!?'s plot. So that way the main ark in the story gets done at episode 13 and the rest of the plot would be some re-do of the Kyoto ark from the first series. As much as I love the anime to no end, they dragged it out for to long, past episode 13. I would have liked it better if they took the manga path from the spin off. Where the main fight is only one chapter! Thats right you know what the anime spread out only a volume's worth of chapters ( 4 chapters about 30 - 40 pages each) in to the last 13 episodes of the show. I call it dragging out the plot to no end!
I would re-write it so the main plot ends at episode 13 (like I said before) but then they go on with other chapters from the spin off manga. They have like a bunch of other plots to use for it.

First I'd hit in the face the guy who wrote for Shingetsutan Tsukihime. Then I'd redo it so that it's sensible, keeps the original philosophy and isn't stupid. Would probably go for one of the Far Side Routes as well.
A movie remake for Rozen Maiden is also in order, with most fanservice out, and more story in, with some sort of closure.
Then again, I'd rather hire someone more competent than me to do the job =))
