So what does this mean for the future of Funimation?

Will Navarre Corp allow Funimation to operate like it is or will it start to tinker with daily operations?

Although FUNimation declined to answer any press related questions, there are a couple hints that can be found in the press release.

press release wrote:
As well, FUNimation brings a strong management team that will bolster our overall group.”

press release wrote:
, the sellers could receive up to $17,000,000 in cash to be paid over five years if FUNimation achieves certain agreed-upon financial targets during that time period.

Speculative conclusion: The upper management of FUNimation shouldn't change. And you don't keep that kind of management in place if you plan on meddling with their day to day affairs.

... Why ever would you wish that? FUNimation is a great company, that puts out great products.

Because some people can't seem to get it through their heads that the FUNimation of today is not the FUNimation of 5 years ago.

I see this mainly as Navarre Corp is seeing anime as a big money maker, and FUNimation being one of the largest, and with FUNimation's profit margins...

Quote:

For the years ended December 31, 2001, 2002 and 2003, FUNimation had net sales of $49.8 million, $63.7 million and $81.6 million, respectively, and pre-tax net income of $20.0 million, $24.9 million and $30.5 million, respectively.

...They don't have to worry about losing any money. The net income of $30.5 million on sales of $81.6 million is 37.38%! Although, it isn't considering FUNimation's net profit, which can be found out by going to their website.

Just what we need. Another expensive merger which leads to a bunch of layoffs and inferior service.

It will be a bit weird for me to know that the parent company for one of the country's biggest anime companies is based in Minnesota.

You're right. The FUNimation of today is BETTER than the FUNimation of 5 years ago, and Navarre's acquisiton of FUNimation will only strenghten Funi's position in the anime market.

OK, I don't know WHAT opinion to adopt here...

What exactly does Navarre corp do? Does it have ANYTHING to do with anime/cartoons/TV/media/entertainment? And why Funi?

Hmm.

All I can say is this:

If this screws up the release of Fullmetal Alchemist, I am going to be very, very pissed.

That was actually my insinuation, although I can see how it was sort of vague.

Highlighted the interesting bits. Basically this is going to mean that Funimation is in a much better position to distribute its releases than other anime companies, if I'm reading this correctly...
