While I look forward to this, I'm confused as to the origin & hope someone will illuminate me.
The only references I can find to a Tibetan Dog Novel written by a Chinese author is a best-selling graphic novel & has exactly the opposite premise. "The story unfolds in Tibet, where a Tibetan mastiff named Metal grows up in a Buddhist temple after his parents and siblings die protecting a peasant family. His grandfather, who learned the secrets of walking upright and speaking human language, trains him in canine meditation and teaches him about his ancient enemy, the Tibetan wolf. A rock musician on a pilgrimage adopts Metal as a son and takes him back to Beijing." Sounds & looks amazing - here are the links - the above from Danwei ... http://www.danwei.org/books/zheng_juns_tibetan_rock_dog.php http://www.shanghai-daily.com/news/shanghai-daily-news/zheng-jun-s-graphic.htm http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-04/22/content_11229748.htm http://www.bjreview.com.cn/books/txt/2009-04/22/content_192295.htm And - because I like Tibetan dogs .... http://www.dharmapalalhasa.org/tibetan_dog_specialist.php http://www.do-khyis.de/en/html/books.html Nico M London |

nicomorr: My guess is that's not what they're basing the movie on...
Character designs by the genius Urasawa, eh? It'll look good, at the very least. |

Well .... I guess we'll see, it's curious that there should be TWO best-selling Chinese novels about a Tibetan Dog! And both are being animated. Cool Tibetan (Real) Dog site: http://www.zodd.se/books.html Don't want one of those on your case ... they live at above 15,000 feet also, you'd expire just running away. Nico M |
