geez, why not?
I think this would be an interesting game if they can use online connectivity, and have mutiple character working together as a team.
There are a lot of character: Kei Kurono, Jouichiro Nishi or even the dog (which is useless).

Call it a long shot, but I'd presume it's in order to make money...

I think it *could* be interesting in an online mode... for all of 20 minutes. I'm imagining some kind of .hack//sign gameworld, I guess.
Hmm, I wonder if it will end up with an M rating and what that rating will cover. Sex is a huge part of the series, after all...

I think this could be good for a couple of reasons
1) it doesn't have to do anything with the characters in the series (u could be some1 completely different) which goes onto the next point
2) they could write something original (talkin about plot here)
3) it'd be interesting to see what aliens/targets they come up with
of course this is all assuming that its got at least some sort of story/rpg element to it... not just "go hunt x alien"

I'm with newleaf on this one. It could be something very interresting, but I'm a bit pessimistic about game industry's adaptations on movies and anime. The games tend to be mindless shoot-em-up's. A good example of fairly decent adaption from a movie/anime/tv show is the .Hack/SIGN-series on PS2. And this is largely because it was originally written in a that the whole story of the WORLD was told in multitable different medias. Still the games weren't that remarkable. The Matrix game is another good example, good story but the game sucked . Doing a game adaption of existing shows is always risky and they rarely succeed, imo.
