Hm, with Madoka ineligable this year, I can't think of any particular show that was big a hit enough to pretty much assure a character from it winning.

Well it's nice to see Mei and Chris are moving up.

Can't believe Chihaya only lost to Yozora by 4 votes. That a josei heroine was nearly able to top one of the leading females in one of the most popular shounen romance franchises is quite impressive. Too bad Kana-chan didn't make it though.

That said, keep on rolling Saki. I want to see the half of the group winners being Sakis.

Kind of hard to decide exactly who to root for. Personally I'd like to see Akari, Shinobu, and Suzutsuki make it into the next round. Very Happy

Why, it only took 2/3rds of 2012 to do it! Smile

Yozora isn't really that popular. I'd expect that Kobato would be able to take her out easily.

Still impressive for a Josei character to do so well though.

There goes Saki blitzin' up a storm in the early rounds...again.

Actually not a lot of new characters all around. Maybe I'll root for the heterochromic gal from Haganai.

Last year I rooted for Mami all the way to the finish. This year I only see 4 characters I like, and only 2 actually have any kind of chance to win.

I expect Sena to really top Yozora and Kobato assuming any of them even make it that far given the death zone that Block B is.

I think it's pretty evident that Saki characters will be strong overall. Toki is the current overall favorite with Akarin (from Yuru Yuri) as the secondary contender (hence Block B death zone). Yuru Yuri's support seems to be dwindling fast given their losses, including the loss of Kyouko today to Shizuno (supposed 17th favorite Saki character). Furthermore, with Nodoka, Koromo, and "Tacos", still showing to be as strong as ever, Saki may very well go all the way this year after shut out in the semifinals twice in 2009 and 2010.

Haganai or even iDOLM@STER (originally Ro-Kyu-Bu! here) now can be a potentially distant 3rd series wise. K-ON! could be strong but given that they won in 2010 and with only a movie, they will really only get so far. Smile Precure! could be a potential dark horse given its incredible popularity in Japan and not to mention the first year where Precure heroines actually came out quite strong in the prelims. Ro-Kyu-Bu! could still sneak in there with Hinata despite the loss of Maho and Mokan off the bat. Hyouka's Chitanso can also be a surprising threat despite being the only character to hold her series' flag.

Hidamari is really just getting shut out with only 2 characters left: Miyako and Hiro. Some say this is a backlash from last year's Madoka win. Could they potentially face the same fate as K-ON! did last year?

C81 was basically the Sena convention, so I wouldn't be shocked if she won the whole thing.

I would be. She didn't even win her preliminary group. She was 2nd to Nodocchi, who had maybe 10 full minutes of screentime (beyond the first episode) in Achiga-hen.

I'd be somewhat surprised, since SaiMOE supposedly isn't as big a fan of boobs. (Mami (last year) was supposedly the first "well endowed" character to win the thing) I think Sena will do well, but she's got a tough road. I think Sena's only real shot is pushing through as an "anti" candidate, since Haganai 2 won't kick in in time.
