Anyone know if the Bright House of Central Florida has this channel?

I went to the MuchMusic website when I first saw this to see if it might be carried where I live (in the US) and I read in their faq that the channel isn't in the US at all. There was a US version of the channel, but it was nothing like the real one and was eventually renamed. Needless to say, I'm a dozen shades of pissed
Now I'm doubly pissed, I thought it came to DVD in May and now I'm seeing June. F--k! I want BECK! I have the fansubs yeah, but I need/want/crave the actual release! :sigh: |

Ah, thanks for the info. Disappointed but hey, what can you do? I guess I'll just re-watch my fansubs for now and join you in the wait for the DVDs.

Caught the first couple episodes of the dub out of morbid curiosity, and now I needs to go back and watch the fansubs to fix it. The VAs /aaaalmost/ work, especially Ryuuske and Maho, the voices fit, but the delivery all seems a little off, and keeping the alternating English/Japanese dialog, but delivering it all in English just DOESN'T WORK, which is a huge issue for this show. Then there's the music. Though there hasn't been much in-episode vocal music yet, it seems Funimation has decided to dub that as well, as Koyuki's Idol girl was all in English. Big Frown.
Overall, if it were any other show, it'd probably be something I could stand to watch dubbed, but there's too much Japan for this to survive the process. Ah well, at least they've mostly kept the foul language and cultural stuff intact. |

I'm hoping MTV2 is willing to experiment with anime again cause right now I'm a little disappointed.
Well, Maho does sing in English. The question is if it's dubbed English. |

I did a quick check and they seem to have left at least her premiere song alone. Same goes for the Dying Breed stuff Koyuki's introduced to(also in English). No point in wasting money redubbing if its already in (questionable) English, I guess? |

For a station like Muchmusic I can't see them doing most of the music in Japanese because Beck is the first anime to be on this station, and the people who watch Muchmusic are not all animefans. It's a completely different target audience. I watched the second episode in fansubs after watching it on Muchmusic and they dubbed the song Koyuki was listening to in his bedroom, but Maho's song was originally in English. The Ending theme was also originally in English.

As far as I can tell, all of the songs have been redubbed so far, including those that were in "Engrish". I must say, they sound very good. Only complaint about the dub is that they've pretty much eliminated the English/Japanese language barrier which substantially changes a few bits. But I suppose it's pretty much impossible to translate something like that in a way that will go over well with mainstream audiences. |

Big Frown. it wouldn't make sense to have English characters singing in Japanese in a dub, especially if they are singing in engrish. I think it was awesome they decided to dub the music. All the music is dubbed because they hired a music director to direct it or something...it was reported here months ago. I think they did a good job, alot better then I expected. Beck is one of my favorite anime, and I think this dub does it justice. As far as if you live outside the US, you can search around for encodes. I won't post them here though. |

ah well my bad and thanks to the wonders of the internet I've watched the first two episodes. I couldn't really tell if they redubbed Maho's song, there was some defininte word changing in the dub version but they sound very similiar vocal wise. Serial Mama wasn't redubbed, it was just punk grunts anyway really. |

Yeah, they changed some of the wording to make it sound more correct, since some of the lyrics in the Engrish version of the song didn't really make much sense, after all. & I think there was a little bit of Japanese music kept in, which was during the scene where Yukio is writing a letter to his cousin Hiro. But other than that, the music has been redubbed, which sounds fine to me. |

as far as I know Much Music in the U.S. is called FUSE! A couple of years ago we did get Much Music in all it's canadian glory, then it became Much Music USA, then MMUSA, then FUSE. So I guess you got to check www.fuse.tv to see if they may air it.

Well, FUSE no longer has any ties with MuchMusic, and it's owner CHUM ltd., and it's owner CTV GlobeMedia. So I wouldn't get my hopes up.
