Never give up the dream of impracticable mecha being used in the military At least Takahashi machines are more feasible than your 15 meter tall white samurai-bots. I'd love to see one of these in action.

wait a few years then we will see, laser cannon, railgun, laser rifle, plasma cannon, and missiles attached to it.
and also wait a few years they will use it as a weapon,,
but amazing it just powered by a diesel engine, imagine if someday they powered it using a nuclear reactor !
how powerful it will be!
4 meters tall looks more easy to control, the size about the same as mecha in Armored Core.

The key thing is what's the meantime to failure and how much maintenance will it require?

Probably short and probably a lot. But that's OK, it's a prototype. How it evolves over the next few years will be very interesting to see.

"Kurata has plans to mass-produce the "toy robots" through his Suidobashi Heavy Industry group, and stated to Wired that he wishes to sell the units for at least 100 million yen (about US$1.27 million)"
1.27 million dollars? For the prototype, sure. But if he wants to mass produce these he can't really charge the price of a small plane. It's not like the robot itself is made of high tech, or serves any usefull purpose whatsoever.

This is the ultimate rich man toy... if only they replaced the BB's with water-based paintball ammo.
I never got into Votoms as a kid (I thought it was too scary), but if this was Labors or Gundams, I'd be out raising the money to purchase now!
