I just wanted to get people's opinions on the new season's batch of anime...what you all thought are the standout new scores and OP/ED songs. Granted, I know that we've only got one or two episodes to cull from, but it's fun to predict.
My votes go for Gankutsuo for its sheer "epicness." Huge orchestral stuff fits that show to a T.
Beck gets a nod in the ever-popular "alternative rock" genre. That soundtrack will probably wind up being FLCL with more bands.
And Mai-HiME, though not a terrific show, has the always-reliable Yuki Kajiura showing off her chops again. How the heck can you classify her music, anyway? Electro-folk? Techno-world beat?

Well an opening song that I find really catchy, fun and that stands out is from Sensei no Ojikan. "Oshieteageru" always keeps me interested and I think I could listen to it many times over. I like it when the opening songs portray the series with not just the melody being relevant but also the lyrics and this one does it for me when you ask about the "best of the new crop"

And what about of the Midori no Hibi opening? I think it's one of those which are quite attractive to us when we hear them, but after all, is just an opening. Oh, and they're not so good, in my opinion.
I see tons of them in the latest animes. But I like them all

I have to give credit for Madhouse's release of Beck and its op/ed themes. I bet a lot of fans of the original manga were pretty anxious to see whether the music production could make it, but the collaborations with Husking Bee, Beat Crusaders, Meister etc. have proved that Madhouse have done a great job.. at least for now. :)
(btw, I'm new to this forum and English ain't my native language so please bear with me!)

That is a totally fun show, and I dig both the OP and ED songs. And you're right, they set the tone for everything as opposed to just being a vehicle for "Pop Idol du Jour."

Huh? Did I really wrote they? Ok, sorry . I wanted to say, when we hear them. Because they're mixing half-relaxed moments and then adding velocity to the music. And that brings kind of emotion to the human brain, those fast changes. Hope it's explained better...I'm really mad at commenting songs...

Yeah, I can see that. There are some OPs or EDs that have nothing (emotionally and/or stylistically) to do with the anime in which they're shown. The OP for Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito was pretty sweet, but far out-classed the anime it was paired with. I swear that I think some anime are rated highly enough to warrant studios thinking that it's a great vehicle to launch some new idol, or kickstart an idol's flagging career (like Arai Akino with Kurau: Phantom Memory).

I adore Gankutsuo's ending theme, but the opening I find boring, and not so good in melody. Other than the opening and endings, I love the music in the series itself, and especially how the managed to fit a gorgeous opera piece in it. I'm definatly going to buying this OST when it comes out.
Bleach has an opening I think fits the series. The ending song is ok, but the animation to it is dreadful. The actual music during the show is practically non-existant, which bothers me. What I have heard I don't like.
Tactics' opening and ending aren't what I'd imagine for the series, but they're catchy and fun. The music in it is quite fitting so far.
