1. Major Motoko Kusanagi, from the original Ghost In The Shell movie (because she's so darned cool and tough, all at once - and the opening scenes of that movie, featuring her, had such an impact on the visual style of The Matrix).

2. Paprika, the titular character from the new Satoshi Kon movie (because she's such a whimsical, mischievous, psychological twist on her alterego, the dry and austere Dr. Atsuko Chiba).

3. Nausicaa, from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Miyazaki's classic movie from way back in 1984 (because she started everything, really - Hayao's developing career, and tough anime women).
